Nuttall Trip - 2012
There were two bridges we had to cross today. The first (0012) leads to the Shoshone Falls and the second (0024) gets one to Twin Falls, ID. Shoshone Falls (0043) is taller than Niagara Falls and without surrounding development - Img 0012s

Today we toured 4 wineries along the Applegate Trail of wineries. The most interesting one was a downtrodden place that looked as if we should bypass it. An old man came out and greeted us and said come on in. So did we and had a great time. The wine was good and so were the stories. It seems his daughter lives in Vermont, somewhere. Anyway, we came back with 16 bottles and two more rolls of duct tape, so I could individually wrap the bottles. These must all fit under the bed. While in California we'll be visiting Anderson Valley, Russian Valley and Mendocino area vineyards. Oh, my God! Where am I going to put all those bottles? After these excursions, we off to Modesto to visit a friend. She called today and asked what are we going to do while we're there? My answer: of course visit vineyards! - IMG 3828

The big and small of it. I knew Paul Bunyon was big, but this is outrageous! How big are redwoods? Helga put its into perspective. We took some road tours deep into the Redwoods today. Some of the roads through the big trees are a tight fit - IMG 3932

There's was lots to do yesterday. First we visited Ocean World where we could pet sharks, watch seals perform and take pictures. Pic 4221 was a beauty! Then it was off to the Jedediah Smith Redwoods. Pic 3789 says it all...they were gigantic! We also toured the scenic coast of Crescent City where we leared of a light house that is taller than the statute of liberty and cost more to build...$700,000 back in the early days. It's eight miles off the coast and 5 stories high. It's huge and can be seen off in the distance. Unfortunately is was a dangerous place to work and subsequently closed in 1975 - IMG 4221
