Highlight for album: Mary Kay Raymond's Fletcher Road Home Destroyed By Fire
Mary Kay Raymond's Fletcher Road Home Destroyed By Fire
Mary Kay Raymond was awakened around 1:30 this morning as smoke detectors blared. She grabbed her phone and dialed 911 as she attempted to hose down the fire which had spread up to the roof from her back deck. Firemen arrived shortly and did a fantastic job of putting out the flames. I think Cambridge Fire also came, but do not know for sure. In a very short time, the damage you will see in these pictures was done. Fairfax Rescue was also on the scene. Mary Kay was taken to the Emergency Room about 5 a.m. She is however doing fine. She also suffered from some cut feet from walking barefoot in the crushed stone. Rescue came in and checked Maryann and I out, just to make sure we were ok. We only had elevated blood pressures from the situation, both sitting there able to do nothing to help. Many people stopped by and offered help and many e-mails and telephone calls were received. Our oldest daughter Lynn and two grandsons were here and Lynn's husband Mike offered to come up from Bellows Falls even after working 15 or 16 twelve hour days in a row. Our middle daughter Sharon drove up early this morning to help her sister and heaven only knows how many people were there to help Mary Kay today. By the end of the day on Monday, Memorial Day, stuff that could possibly be salvaged was organized in the garage so that Mary Kay can easily find it if need be. Appliances and other items need to be checked to see if they are ok, but there is no power at the house to do this. Clothing has been packed in trash bags to be cleaned to try and remove the smoke smell. We are truly blessed to have so many wonderful friends. We are also very grateful that no one was hurt.

Fairfax Activities May 2, 2009
Lots of activities were planned today - I drove around a bit and saw Mike Cain, who I suspect had his camera with him also. Hopefully I haven't duplicated anything he has taken.

World Marriage Day - St. Luke Celebration
St. Luke Parish celebrated World Marriage Day at the 8:30 a.m. Mass this Sunday, February 22, 2009. Nine couples renewed their vows at this Mass. A reception honoring all of the married couples in the parish was held, immediately following Mass. The corsages and boutonnieres were supplied to us by Donna Meunier of Upsy Daisy Florists.
