The meeting was called to
order by G. Heyer at 7:30PM.
Three representatives from
the Town came to discuss Bylaw Section 5.4 Building Height Limits: J. Heyer,
DRB Chair;
L. Hayes, DRB Vice Chair and
Incident Safety Officer for the Fairfax Fire Department; and Jim Field, Fairfax
Fire Chief.
Discussion centered on:
number of stories of a building; intended use of the building; roof lines;
sprinkler systems; levels of hazard; and safety considerations. Changes to the
Bylaws were recommended.
The Bylaw section on signs
was discussed. A. Lemieux brought in
suggested wording for the section. The
wording was discussed and S. Taylor will also submit ideas for the section on
signs.
The minutes from December 6,
2005 were reviewed. A. Lemieux made a motion to accept the
minutes from Dec. 6, 2005, R. Wimble second. All in favor. Future
training needs for the Planning Commission were discussed. S. Taylor handed out
information from the Vermont Council on Rural Development. A representative from their organization will
be talking to the Selectboard on January 16th, at 8PM. They will be
discussing the possibility of a Community Visit which consists of focus groups,
public meetings, recommendations and lists of resources. All Planning Commission members were invited
to attend.
A. Lemieux made a motion to adjourn. M. Hunziker second, all in favor.
The next regular meeting will be on January 3, 2006.
