the meeting to order.
D. Brown moved to accept the minutes from the February 21,
2012 meeting; M. Hunziker 2nd. All in favor.
Vision
Committee
There was discussion regarding the schedule of the
Vision Committee. M. Hunziker attended the March 6, 2012 Vision Committee meeting and
updated the Board on its progress.
Update of
Town Plan
The Plan will be reviewed chapter by chapter. The Board covered Chapters 1-3. There was discussion regarding whether there
should be a Town survey like there was before the 2008 Plan. There was agreement that there needs to be
community input and involvement. The
2008 survey emphasized the rate of growth and the kind of facilities that were
needed. The Board agreed to do a survey
followed by public discussion as they near the end of the Chapter reviews.
There was additional discussion regarding maps, the
number of farms in town (declining? And what constitutes a farm?), and solar
panels.
The Board will cover Chapters 4 and 5 at the next
meeting, scheduled for Wed. April 11, 2012 (rescheduled to avoid conflicting
with a Vision Committee meeting scheduled for April 3).
A copy of Chapter 6 from the Town Plan (chapter
heading Education) will be sent to Elaine Carpenter of the Fairfax School
Board for updating and corrections, to be returned to the Planning Commission
by April 17, 2012.
M. Hunziker moved to adjourn; D. Brown 2nd.
