Planning Commission Minutes August 21, 2007

FAIRFAX TOWN OFFICE

PC MEMBERS PRESENT: G. Heyer, M. Hunziker, R. Wimble, A. Lemieux, P. Hudson

PUBLIC PRESENT: S. Taylor, ZA

7:30 PM G. Heyer called the meeting to order. A. Lemieux motioned to approve the Minutes from August 7, 2007 as written. P. Hudson seconded the motion. G. Heyer, R. Wimble, A. Lemieux and P. Hudson in favor. Greta Brunswick from Northwest Regional Planning offered to come to a meeting with the Board to help: 1) fill in the Grant Application, 2) discuss a study on the usefulness and connectivity of existing open space created as part of a PUD, and 3) help get a new survey started. The Board hopes to meet with her on Tuesday, Aug. 28th, with alternative dates of Aug. 30th and Sept. 11th. Hopefully she will be able to come two of the three dates.

The recent surveys from the Towns of Essex, Hinesburg and Westford were discussed. Many topics were discussed such as demographics, agriculture, open space, economic development, roads, recreation, infrastructure, municipal facilities, town government, and the village center. The format of the Town Plan was discussed should it be similar or different from the prior years? The regional plan was brought up, and the Board will ask Greta to talk about how Fairfax fits into the overall plan. The new survey will hopefully be sent out the end of October, to be returned at the same time as taxes are due, hopefully in the same envelope, or in survey collection boxes to be distributed in different areas of town.

9:20 PM M. Hunziker made a motion to adjourn. P. Hudson second. All in favor.

Next meeting will hopefully be on August 28, 2007, with Greta Brunswick.

Respectfully Submitted,

Cathy Raymond, Zoning and Planning Assistant
