Notice:

The minutes presented below are unapproved , subject to corrections and/or additions at the next Selectboard meeting. Those corrections and/or additions will be written to the original minutes. If you, the viewer, wish to personally see those changes, you will need to go to the Fairfax Town Office to view those changes as written on the original paper copy.

Any time the Selectboard "amends" the previous weeks' minutes, there will be a statement to that effect in the minutes of the meeting at which the "amending" occurred.


Fairfax Selectboard Minutes of 11/24/08

Selectboard Members present: Judy Cleary, Bill Ormerod, Charlie Swanson, Randy DeVine and Bob Horr. Staff Members present: DJ Leach of the Town Highway Department, and Erin McSweeney, Administrative Assistant to the Selectboard. Public Present: Melissa Beerworth.

1.Call to Order

Judy Cleary, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 7:00PM.

2. Minutes

A. Charlie motioned to accept the minutes from the meeting on November 17, 2008, as written. Bob seconded. All board members voted in favor.

3. Items on the Agenda

A. DJ Leach, Town Highway Department - DJ informed the board that he and Pat have fixed the turn around on the access road to the Town Forest. DJ informed the board that Don is working on the budget for the Highway Department.

B. Randy DeVine - Randy gave the board a summary of activities for the week, including but not limited to: tended to a fallen tree on Wheezy Way, performed preventative maintenance on the Buck Hollow booster pumps, transferred chlorine at the Buck Hollow booster pumps, changed a water meter on Village View Road, re-built some of the water meters he has changed out, took quarterly VOC samples for the water system, and replaced the light in front of the Town Office.

4. Other Business

A. The board reviewed an e-mail from Peggy Bushey regarding the Teen Center. The board would like to meet with Peggy, along with Peg Stewart and Dean Potter, to discuss the needs of the Center.

B. The board reviewed a memo from the Vermont League of Cities and Towns regarding the recent appraisal of Town buildings. Erin will contact Steve Bessette regarding fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in the Town Office building and the Historical Society Museum.

C. The board reviewed the revised job description for the Zoning Administrator and the Assistant to the Planning Commission and Development Review Board.

Bob motioned to accept and adopt the job descriptions for the Zoning Administrator and the Assistant to the Planning Commission and Development Review Board. Randy seconded. All board members voted in favor.

The board will review the job descriptions for the Office Assistant and the Administrative Assistant to the Selectboard at next week's meeting.

D. The board reviewed the 911 Road Code List. Erin will contact Steve Bessette regarding updating the directions to and the location of the roads in Town.

E. The board reviewed some of the proposed changes to the Water Use ordinance.

F. Randy informed the board that Northern Coal and Oil cleaned the furnace, replaced the coil, and installed a new hot water mixing valve in the furnace at the Wastewater Treatment Facility.

G. Erin will send a letter to Mike Spaulding of Fairfax Rescue reminding him that the Rescue Squad should request permission from the Selectboard to use Town owned buildings to hold events.

H. The board discussed the Town Report. The deadline for Town Departments to submit information to be included in the Town Report is January 21, 2009.

I. The board completed an Act 250 Municipal Impact Questionnaire for Paul and Natalie Bean's subdivision.

5. Public Input

A. Melissa Beerworth discussed the enthusiasm in Town for the Teen Center.

6. Executive Session

There was no Executive Session this evening.

7. Adjournment

Charlie motioned to adjourn the meeting at 8:19PM. Randy seconded. All board members voted in favor. The meeting was adjourned at 8:19PM.
