I got a call that 3 Sheriff's Cars sped up the Fletcher Road with sirens and lights - They didn't go by my place, however, when I went down to the village later, saw on of the Sheriff's Cars with a vehicle stopped at the beginning of Wilkins Road.

I am guessing one of the Sheriff's vehicles just pulled out of his hiding spot at what was Mrs. Selby's house at the end of Fletcher Road and joined the convoy.  He seems to be spending his time there when I go through for work often this week.  Gotta love the speed trap we created for him.

I confess!  I did get stopped for speeding at the bottom of the Fletcher Road this morning and the very nice officer was trying to tell me it's been posted 30 MPH for over a year.   I didn't want to argue with him, but I don't think it's been posted that long - maybe since Spring?  Does anyone know when it actually got posted at that speed?  BTW - he did let me off with a warning, which was nice; but it definitely is a hard area to reduce your speed so quickly. I'll keep working on it though!

It's been 30MPH for about 100 days.

There was one Franklin County Sheriff's Department cruiser in Fairfax today from 6:00am to 2:00pm.

He spent most of his time today on Fletcher Road.

When I dropped my kids off at school this morning about 7:50, as I was leaving he was pulling on to Hunt St Heading towards the school.

Vermont law
23, chapter 13, 1007 (e)

Is a good reference for challenging new speed zones on town roads that are established without a traffic engineering study.

I believe when one deputy appears to be three police cars,
we are getting our money's worth.

I'd bet that he was referring to the old speed zone that was 30 before it was extended .25 miles south towards the rainville farm.  From the majority of individuals I've talked to most have been given warnings and the ones that were given tickets were traveling over 50 mph that would be 20 mph over the well posted limit.  In my opinion that seems to be a justified violation.

What i find interesting is a town cannot post a roadway below 25 mph per statue, But hunt street is posted as a visable 20MPH zone at the intersection of route 104.  Does that mean because of the invalid posting it refers to an unposted highway and is governed by a state speed zone of 50 MPH?
