I just put 2 and 2 together. ( I am slow, forgive me)

I saw a pic of the existing bridge 10 on Uncle Mike's page.

You mean to tell me that the replacement OF THAT BRIDGE is $633,000.00???

I was thinking the bridge being replaced was the one over the Lamoille by the Steeple Market.

GET THE HECK OUTTA HERE!!
1/2 a mil?Huh??

To replace a bridge now a days is crazy money!  Correct me if I'm wrong but a year or two ago when the bridge in Richmond was replaced I believed it cost in the neighborhood of 16million?  That bridge is comparable in size to the one in town by steeples.  Just to put a little comparison on it.

B.10 (over Mill brook) isn't really comparable to the Lamoille bridge; with no offense towards the bridge intended (wouldn't want to hurt the concrete's feelings Smiley) it is a dinky little bridge when compared to the Lamoille and most of the bridges that we make.   The span is a mere 35 FT while the Lamoille is (just guessing) well over 100' - maybe closer to 200'.  Completely different design considerations - primarily the type and depth of beam that is needed for that length of span.

Ok ok ENGINEER.... draft, beam, etc, etc

I didn't realize THE bridge being replaced.

6.3 is a little over the top for the Mill Brook bridge, in my opinion.

What was the engineers estimate and what was the HIGH bid? Curious.

6.3??? the contract price (paid to Blow & Cote) is $773,000.  All of the bids (and bidders) is public record and can be viewed throught the VAOT website.
