TROOPER: Cota   STATION: St. Albans CONTACT#: 524-5993
DATE/TIME: 04/27/10 at 1015 hours
LOCATION (specific): I-89 SB near Exit 18

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On 04/27/10 a three vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 89 south bound, near exit 18 in Georgia.  Vehicle 1, a gold Mercury Sable, operated by Joanna Joyal, DOB 04/16/48, of Fairfield, lost control as the vehicle went over the bridge before exit 18.  Joyal’s vehicle began to spin and was struck by vehicle 2, a black Ford Expedition, operated by Bruce Pelletier, DOB 09/10/65, of St. Albans.  Both vehicles came to a place of controlled rest when a third vehicle, a red Kia Rio, operated by David Knight, DOB 06/23/86, of St. Albans, struck the rear of the Expedition.

Joyal and her passenger Jorgi LeClair, DOB 12/08/91, of Bakersfield, were transported to Northwest Medical Center in St. Albans for observation, Knight was transported to Fletcher Allen in Burlington with minor injuries.

This incident caused minor traffic delays on I-89 as rescue crews worked to make sure all parties were attended to and while the vehicles were removed.  The weather was definitely a factor in this incident.
