BFA-Fairfax Boys JV Basketball
Head Coach Seth McQuade
Assistant Coach Steve Latulippe

The JV Boys team has gotten off to a strong start to the 2009-2010 season, opening with a 5-0 record.  The team is led by sophomores Cameron Loller, Sam Jones Eli Phillips and Kody Ballard.  With only four sophomores on the roster we have had to have freshman step up and they are doing a great job.  We have gotten great contributions from the entire team, Kris Wehner, Ben Pomitcher, Aaron Barbeau, Tim Rebeor, Doug Legris, Travis Yandow, Alec Marble and Jared Demar.

The boys opened the season with a 44- 30 win over Peoples Academy.  We jumped out to a 15- 4 lead and Peoples could not get back into the game.  The JV Bullets had a balanced offensive attack with the sophomore quartet combining for 31 points.

Next up we hosted rival Milton and posted a 58-39 win.  This one saw Milton take a first quarter lead at 14-12 but we flexed some muscle in the paint with Kody Ballard and Eli Phillips scoring 10 of our 15 second quarter points and giving us a 27-20 half time lead.  In the third, Milton dropped into a zone and we used accurate shooting to pull away.  Sam Jones finished with 15 points with Kody (10) and Eli(11) joined him in double figures.

In the third game we traveled to Stowe and cruised to a 53-24 victory.  A solid first quarter and an offensively explosive second gave us a 31-13 halftime lead.  Good defense and smart offensive possessions helped maintain the lead.  Cameron Loller and Aaron Barbeau lead the team with 10 points apiece.

Next on the schedule was a tough and scrappy Danville team.  We played great early and got ourselves a 31 – 9 first quarter lead and maintained that lead through three quarters 43 – 30. In the fourth quarter we upped the pressure and put the game away putting up 20 points to their 11.  Sam Jones was on his game torching the nets for 31 points and leading us to the win.

A road trip to Mt. Abe to face the Eagles proved to be our toughest contest on the young season.  We were able to score a come from behind victory in a tough environment 49-47.  The Eagles controlled play early but we fought back and ended the first quarter 16-12.  The second quarter was back and forth with Mt. Abe extending their lead to 7 at 28-21.  The third quarter saw the game tied up, but a late run pushed the lead back out to 8 as we headed to the fourth quarter.  The guys stepped up their defense and the shots started to fall and we out scored them 17-7 in the fourth.  We had to play defense for about the final minute and we shut them down.  Sam Jones led the scoring with 12, Travis Yandow had 9 and Cameron Loller finished with 8.

We head into a holiday break and then face Milton next week.  Hope to see you in the stands!

Take Care & God Bless,
