This Special Ed guy could be dangerous - I know he carries his camera around with him, but he uploaded his own photos - When I came on a few minutes ago and saw this, I was amazed.  I bet his kids are helping him.

Great Job Ed,  If we could all keep smiling like Paul, the world would certainly be a much better place.  What a nice guy.  Love the photo of him giving you the thumbs up.  It sure has been a depressing year for haying for the farmers.

I feel like I should know this coming from the family I do, but WHY do they burn their fields again?

Kathy,

In years when we get a lot of rain, the hay gets nearly dry, then wet again over and over and after a while gets moldy and is not only unuseable for animal feed, but bedding as well.  You could gather it up and put it in a pile someplace and hope that spontaneous combustion doesn't set it on fire or go ahead and burn it.  Many farmers just burn it in the windrows.

Thanks Henry.  Since I always try to learn something new every day, this'll be my new thing I learned today.  And now that I know the Why, it makes absolute perfect sense to me and don't know why I couldn't figure it out on my own!

Great question Kathleen, I understood the spring burns and now understand the summer burns.  Thanks for the follow up Henry!  I'm still under the belief that Paul is pyromaniac at heart.  Keep up the good work Paul!
