Hi Henry and all readers.  I believe I am now up and running with the new e-mail recently installed here at the Office.  I would like to take this opportunity to make a few comments.  This open forum is a great idea to commuicate the concerns of the residents and hopefully give us the opportunity to work together to address these concerns. I have recently met with Ed Nuttall and we will be shifting our patrol times a little to give a little more exposure during day time hours in the Fairfax area.  This will give us the opportunity to be seen in the early morning hours along with the early afternoon hours. There are areas of concern in Fairfax during these hours and we have been made aware of this. I would also like to comment on two things that I feel you all should be informed of.  The first is the issue of ATV's and illegal operation. We have tested this procedure in Traffic Court with success. If a person views operation on a public highway and can list date, time, highway, description of ATV and can possitively indentify the operator we will issue traffic complaints. The complainant will obviously be the state's witness in traffic court on behalf of the state. The readers should be aware of the possibility of having to testify. The second issue is we also have a Web Page (www.franklincountysheriff.net) if in fact someone wishes to relay information to this office and not be so public about it. Thank you Henry and in closing I would like to comment that I will visit the forum as often as possible and the readers should be patient. I am not always in the Office.

What is your contact information? Perhaps there are those who would like to contact you but in a less public manner. I have tried using the www.franklincountysheriff.net address, but I am unable to use the e-mail link because it defaults my system to an e-mail program that locks up the machine. I am unable to change this as I am using a machine where I do not administer the programs and applications.

Henry:

I am sorry to see that you removed my post from the Fairfax web regarding the parking situation at the town clerk's office.

I feel that town employees using parking spots designated for visitors is a real issue for individuals with limited mobility or children.

Can you please post this as a topic in an appropriate forum on your web site and let the citizens of Fairfax be the deciding vote of whether my concerns are petty or justified.

The elected officials of our town purchased the "Visitor's Parking" signs for a reason.  I am sure that the spaces were intended to give citizens of our town easy access to the services of the town office.

Please reconsider the validity of this topic.

Thank you.

Henry

I just heard that the visitor parking signs in front of the town office were stolen.  Don't you find this interesting?  I guess somebody didn't want to have to park in an appropriate spot and walk to the town office?  Could this have been an inside job?
