Well, I haven't been outside yet and can't tell if my Free Press is there or not.  Actually I don't even know how much snow we got.  I had the porch light on last night, but couldn't really see any heavy snow falling.  Heard the plow go by several times since 3 a.m. and at the rate the cars are going by, our Road Crew must have the roads in pretty good shap.

Chris Howard is taking a well deserved trip to Florida.  He usually goes about this time of year.  I believe it might be his son that plows when he is gone.  When he went last year, we had the Valentines Day Blizzard, so the young man seems to hit it just right to plow..  As a wild guess, I am saying we got between 6 & 8 inches of snow - My driveway is all cleared out and I will get my little Electric Toro and clear the pathway to the handicap ramp.

Not so bad as they predicted, but a nice clean white cover and I'm not really that disappointed.

Follow The White Rabbit

« #2 : February 27, 2008, 09:31:45 AM »

Just drove to Williston via 104 past minors, to rte 128, to Woods Hollow Rd, to Old stage rd in essex, to the circ highwy, to williston.  The roads in fiarfax weren't bad, but were sloshy in some spots - which tends to make the back end slide 'round on turns.  Old stage had 1-2" crumbly mix of snow and sand.  At first didn't look fun but managed a steady 40.  Did a steady 34-40 mph for the whole trip.  Made the 20 mile trip in 50 minutes.

Taking the trash to the curb
took about twice as long as usual.

So I hear.

I was out shoveling about 7:30,
talked with Gary Stewart who was working the school lots.
About 3 inches of fluff were on top of icy crust.

A friend made it by about 8am from Carroll Hill, no problems.
Another friend stopped by from Goose Pond Road, again no problems.

Hunt Street is in great shape.

Thanks to the Fairfax Road Crew !

Take Care & God Bless,
