SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On April 20, 2017, Vermont State Police – St Albans received a complaint of an armed robbery of the Center Market convenience store in the Town of Georgia Vermont. It was reported that a male had been seen in the store attempting to gain entry into the store’s cash register while the lone store employee was working in the deli area preparing meals for the Meals on Wheels Program. The employee approached the male and witnessed him to have his face covered with what appeared to be a mask and a hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head. The male then turned and faced the employee and told her to open the cash register and give him all the money.  The employee refused to open the cash register and refused to give the male any of the money in the store. The male brandished a firearm and pointed it in the direction of the employee and again demanded the money. The employee again refused and the male exited the store running to a vehicle waiting in the parking lot. The vehicle proceeded to travel northbound on VT Rt. 7. Witnesses saw the vehicle in question traveling northbound at a high rate of speed attempting to pass other motorists on the roadway. Saint Albans City Police Department quickly made contact with the vehicle in question and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The male subject located in the vehicle matched the description provided by the store employee.

Subjects in the vehicle were identified as Jacob Robbins, DOB 8/3/96, and Megan Russell, DOB 3/1/92 of Winooski. Russell and Robbins also had their 1 year old son in the vehicle at the time of the robbery.

Both Robbins and Russell were taken into custody and charged with Attempted Assault and Robbery. They are scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow morning 6/13/17 in Franklin County at 1100 hours. This investigation is ongoing  and more charges may be pursued as the investigation unfolds. Anyone with any information regarding the above individuals or the armed robbery is asked to call the  Vermont State Police.
