At approximately 1030 this morning, units from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office will be in the area of Ovitt Road, Buck Hollow Road & Woodward Road in Fairfax looking for a missing adult. There is no reason to believe that the public is in any danger at this time. This is simply a community notification.

I work with this gentleman & he is not being considered a threat to anyone. He has gone missing & it is out of character for him to do so. Hoping for a safe return for Mark. Thoughts to his family & friends.

The search continues.
Police are asking folks to stay out of the woods near Buck Mountain, if possible,
as too many scents can make it more difficult on the K-9's.

                          Missing Person Mark Fontanilles

On the evening of October 13th at approximately 1936 hours Deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office responded to 26 Ovitt Road in Fairfax in reference to a missing person. Upon arrival they spoke with the father who advised he had not seen his son for several hours. Later that evening members of Vermont State Police, Border patrol and the Sheriff's Office searched in and around the premises. A K-9 was also used for a search of the nearby wooded area.

On the 14th of October members of the Sheriff's Office along with Border Patrol did an extensive search of the wooded area in and around Buck Mountain.

Canvassing of the area is presently being done with members of the Vermont State Police and the Sheriff's Office. We would anticipate another extensive search on the 17th with the use of specially trained K-9 units.

I just read an article online at WCAX that Mark has been found deceased. May he rest in peace and my sympathies to his family

Thanks Judi, Mary Kay had told me but I had not seen an official notice.  I did not know him, but heard nothing but nice things from  friends & co-workers.  So sad
