Just a short note to Dick's friends.   He was re admitted to hospital over the weekend and very ill. At present they are hoping not to operate again, but should know by the end of today.  He is fighting a very brave fight.             Mary

Henry,

I wanted to take a moment and thank everybody for their concerns prayers and inquires.  Dad has made a miraculous turnaround in the past 72 hours and is now eating solid foods and is scheduled to be released from the hospital if all continues to go well on Monday.  He is beyond grateful for the outpouring of concern and wants to pass along his gratitude and good wishes.

I cut and pasted from Jeff's Facebook comment:

An update about Dick Brown. First thank you for the inquires, concern and prayers. Dad has made a miraculous recovery in the past 48 hours and is now scheduled to be released from the hospital on Monday if all continues to go well. He wants to pass along his good wishes to all and thankfulness to all for their concern and well wishes

(Good news!)

Yes, Mike, this is the same Dick Brown that was your coach - I don't know what hospital he is in, but you can always e-mail him at jbrown7985@gmail.com

I am sure Mary will read his e-mails to him until he is able to do it himself

Jeff put on Facebook that Dick had come home.  A long road ahead of him.  We wish Dick a speedy recovery.

My caloric intake should be at least 2000 / day and so far I am only managing to take in about 700 to 800 , which means that that amount of nutritional intake will never be able to speed a full recovery . So the surgeon is going to insert a feeding tube ( mild, invasive procedure he says much like a colonoscopy, done under sedation ) on October 8th. Hopefully , I'll start to put some significant weight on which is the key to my recovery , he says .
Outpatient procedure so home the same day . Thanks for all your messages and cards,   Stay safe .
