Telephone Scam Alert

Today, two members of the Sheriff's Office received phone calls on their cell phones with the caller ID showing "302". The automated voice said "your credit union debit card has been locked due to fraud. Press 1 to be transferred to our security department". We DID NOT press 1, instead a quick Google search using "call from 302 regarding debit card being locked" turned out to be a scam.

Never provide your account information over the telephone or internet to a non-trusted source. If you question the validity of the call/email, contact your financial institution DIRECTLY.

I received a call from 910-375-5027 on my cell phone last night. I didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer.  No message was left.  I tried to call it back and got an announcement that it was a non working number.  When I googled it, I see that other people have received t he same call and it says that your debit master card has been locked.

My roommate got the same call last night on his cell phone!  He knew it was fishy.
