As Memorial Day comes to a close here in Fairfax We must All appreciate that we All live in a Great Country. I missed the Flags this year on the telephone poles. Driving through Fairfax on Memorial Day used to be a wonderfull experience. What happened this year? Do we need to buy more flags, volunteers, is the new government preventing us? If its money then maybe the town selectboard can make a one time waiver to do a coin drop to buy flags for next Memorial Day, If youn need help, ask. Id like to see Main Street next year with all the flags.

I too think they are awesome. I think flags year round would be nice. Maybe a fairfax flag or something. I wonder how much they are.

The flags were sponsored by the Fairfax Business & Professionals Association.
Each year, the Fairfax Fire Department would put them up for us.

The FBPA has dissolved into the Citizens for Fairfax Community, Inc.
FBPA would replace worn flags at about $50 per flag.

I believe the flags are at the station. Anyone know for sure ?

Duane Leach is the person that put up and took down the flags every year, usually by himself.  There are still some in the fire station, but they aren't as pretty as they used to be.

I'd be happy to help figure out how to get them up. Are the flags at the station? How many have to be replaced? Is there someone I can contact?

Its not surprising to me hear that Duane Leach put them up every year, Duane does a lot. I am all in favor of putting the flags up for the fourth and will get in touch with Duane to volunteer and help put them up. I am a little nervous about the condition and quanity. I will find out. If it becomes a financal burden, does anyone have any suggestions?

Heard that the flags were bough in 2009 so they should be in good shape..
I can try to check on them this week and perhaps we can get some people together and get them up before the 4th.

Gary      Obviously , living 1600 miles away from Fairfax , I have no idea who decorated our town with the flags , but I join in with those residents who are pleased with both the effort and the appearance of this project  in our town, and I suspect that both yourself and Duane played a big part in getting it done. However ,i do wish to congratulate you for getting this year's endeavor started by posting your thoughts on this Forum  and , again I can only speculate , pushing the envelope to it's successful finish. Good job by you and all those who were concerned and involved .
