CECILE MEILLEUR POULIOT

CAMBRIDGE:  Cecile M. Pouliot, 91, died Wednesday October 25, 2006 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s at Genesis Elder Care Facility in Morrisville, Vt.

Born July 14, 1915 in Chrysler, Ontario, she was a daughter of the late Francis & Euphrosine (Aube) Meilleur.

She married Elphege O. Pouliot May 11, 1937 at St. Joseph Church in Burlington. He pre-deceased her Mar. 14, 1983. They lived in a handful of towns, settling in Cambridge where they owned and operated a store in Jeffersonville, then a farm in Cambridge. Cecile was a member of St Mary of Assumption Church. She was devoted to Jesus Christ, her Savior, and to her family. She was active in her church serving as a CCD teacher, in the Ladies Guild when it was active and felt blessed to serve as a Eucharistic Minister in her later years. She was also a hospice volunteer. When she first moved to Jeffersonville she did women’s hair, setting and giving perms, as there were no beauticians in town. She loved to sew and keep house. After her love of Jesus, she devoted her time to family and loved to visit all the many relatives and her many friends.

She leaves 6 children and their spouses: Maurice & Mary Pouliot, Shirley & Gary Lipka all of Cambridge; Priscilla & Jack McNall, Sherry & Duane LaBrie all of Fairfield; Aline & Eric Sweet of Fletcher; Janet & Peter Smithers of Randolph.

2 Brothers & spouse; Victor & Rita Meilleur of Shelburne; Gene Meilleur of Grand Isle.

2 Sisters & spouse; Bertha & Rudy Delaricheliere of Hyde Park; Theresa Bashaw of Essex Jct.

Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Aline Meilleur of Springfield, Ma; Jeanne Yandow of St. Albans; Corrine & Bernard Catella of Jericho; St. Emerentienne Pouliot, O.Carm., of Nebraska and Gabrielle Pouliot of Westford; Louella & Paul Desrochers of St. Albans.

20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by an infant son Gerald and a grandson, Michael Pouliot.   5 brothers Leo, Ernest, Armand, Euclide, Jerry and 5 sisters, Alice, Yvette, Dorina, Ida, Annette and two half-sisters Florence and Lucienne.

Visiting hours will be Sunday October 29, 2006 from 7:00 -9:00 at the A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel.  A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday October 30, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Cambridge with Reverend Dan Jordan officiating.   Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery in Underhill Center.
