Sunday night March 6th at 6:30pm, the Fairfax Historical Society will be having a meeting at the Fairfax Community Library.
The program for the evening will be 'What Is It?". With advances in technology and engineering, many work, farming, and household items are now obsolete.
People are invited to bring in items so everyone can guess What Is It? The public is invited to attend.

This week, I will post some pictures of some of the things we will be looking at and trying to guess what it was used for back in the day.

Today item is a cast iron "contraption" set in a wooden base. The pictures were taken on the table in the Fairfax Room at the library and is about 16-18 in base length.

Wow good luck!! No clue what that might have been used for!

I put a link to this thread on Facebook, and a BFA alumni replied:   "Yes. It was used to comb through flax fibers to make a sort of yarn/string."

Do we win a prize?  I hope it's a million dollars!  :D  I'll split it with my FB friend....
