A. W. Rich Funeral Home BECOMES EXCLUSIVE VETERANS PROVIDER, KICKS OFF CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS COLLECTION DRIVE

Essex Chapel and Fairfax Chapel, November 11, 2010  John D. Workman, owner of A. W. Rich Funeral Home announced today that his firm has been selected to become an exclusive, Certified Veterans & Family Memorial Care Provider for the Champlain Valley. VFMC Providers are family owned & operated. They are selected for upholding the highest level of ethical business standards and integrity while providing outstanding, affordable professional service. The staff at A. W. Rich Funeral Home are experts in assisting families with all aspects of the final arrangement process. They work closely with all Veterans Service Organizations and local Hospices.

The government does an excellent job providing veterans and their spouses with burial benefits if you use a Veterans National or State cemetery. However there are very limited benefits for the funeral or cremation arrangements. John D. Workman, owner of A. W. Rich Funeral Home has demonstrated a willingness and commitment to reach out to veterans and their families by providing affordable, quality funeral & cremation arrangements. They honor and pay tribute to veterans everyday.

Another way VFMC Providers are reaching out is by their participation in the Cell Phones for Soldiers project. More than 150,000 troops are serving overseas and are away from their families. Hundreds of Veterans & Family Memorial Care Providers nationwide are calling on all Americans to support these brave men and women by donating your old cell phones. Included in becoming an Exclusive Veterans & Family Memorial Care Provider, A. W. Rich Funeral Home in Essex and Fairfax has become an official drop off site for Cell Phones for Soldiers to help troops stay connected with their families.

A. W. Rich Funeral Home  has also become an Old Glory Collection Center as part of their proud membership in Veterans & Family Memorial Care. The mission is to collect old, tattered, unusable flags to be retired in a dignified manner in accordance with the U.S. Flag Code.

As the United States continues to prosecute the War on Terror, across the nation, Americans continue to display their pride and patriotism to a degree not witnessed since the World War II era. Our nation's flag flies boldly from homes, offices, and automobiles. As time passes, however, many of these flags begin to show the ill effects of exposure to wind and weather. As they are replaced, their owners are faced with the dilemma of what to do with them.

Local residents can support the collection drives by donating their old cell phones or tattered flags at A. W. Rich Funeral Home located at 57 Main Street, Essex Jct., VT or 1176 Main Street, Fairfax, VT between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. . 802-849-6261.
