Fire Extinguishers over 10yrs old should be replace or inspected. ABC extinguishers will handle most fire around the house. Make sure to read the directions and understand how to use it.(Unless they are big ones usually cheaper to buy new) J&L Hardware sells fire extinguishers, smoke detectors,CO detectors and since Jeff employees 3 or 4 Firefighters should be more than able to help people with these choices.

The Knox boxes can be installed on any building in town, thru the fire department. I think the average price of a box is around $200.00. (I have price sheets if anyone is interested). Much cheaper and quicker to use than having to break a door or window to get in.

We will be having a open house at the fire station this Saturday Oct.13 from 10-noon. If anyone would like more information on any fire safety stuff stop by and feel free to ask. We are also at the station every Tuesday night from 7-9pm.

Call came in around Midnight as a dryer fire. Dryer is totaled and the house had some smoke damage, but no fire damage. Home owners gave huge credit to smoke detector waking them up, she said if it wasn't for the detector the fire may have gotten bigger and they may not have woke up. And I will give a big thanks to the home owner for thinking quick and being prepared. he hit the dryer with a fire extinguisher which kept the fire small enough so it didn't spread and gave use time to get there and put it out.

Every home in town should have multiple smoke detectors, CO detector and fire extinguishers that are checked on a regular bases. Change batteries, test, inspect for damage

They are part right the garage contained 20 units, 8 where destroyed.A few more may have smoke or water damage. A fire wall and a quick response saved the rest of the units. First arriving crews where able to put a lot of water fast onto the fire and keep it from spreading to the rest of the building. It was a lot of hard work and effort on a hot day with a very hot fire. First call came in around 1:30 we had our equipment cleaned repacked and ready to go around 9:00 last night.

Big thanks to Cambridge Fire and Rescue, Fairfax Rescue, Georgia Fire , Milton Fire, And St. Albans Fire for coming over and lending a lot of help. And of course to Fairfax Fire.
