PROJECT STUDENT SUCCESS:  BFA FAIRFAX
(From Lea Wimette)

"One of the first steps to student success is student preparedness."

Recently I learned of a community rallying to support their children in need of school supplies for the upcoming school year. It occurred to me that we have some of those same needs right here in our own Fairfax community. This Project Student Success is a call for help to provide school supplies for those students / families in need.

If you are willing and can help, any school supplies would be greatly appreciated. If you would like ideas, there are specifics listed below, items originating from lists that teachers have provided for children returning to school. If it makes sense to you that a child might need it at school, it's probably a good idea, even if it isn't listed here!

Also listed below are the number, grade level and gender of known homeless children we have in our community. It would be fabulous to be able to give new backpacks to some or all of those children.

COLLECTION LOCATION
BFA Fairfax Guidance Office:
7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Weekdays
If those hours do not work for you, please call 849-6711 and speak with Karen McNall in Guidance for other possible times or locations.
I am also happy to receive and deliver any items to the Guidance Office if those hours are not convenient. Please call me, Lea Wimette at 849-2151.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the faculty, staff, community and families for supporting the 2015 Class Day celebration. We were fortunate in being able to award over $820,000 in scholarships for our juniors and graduating seniors. The BFA Fairfax community appreciates the financial support of so many families, organizations and universities to make this possible.

Coach Williams started this tradition his first year.  Win or lose.... we sing the BFA alma mater proudly.

Thanks for all the information.  Hoping for a smooth transition.

We received Duffy's flyer yesterday and it appears Casella collected more recycables than Duffy will unless I did not read correctly. If my understanding is correct, no paper or newspaper or cardboard can be recycled?  Can someone from Duffy's or the Selectboard clarify this?  Thank you -Karen

BFA Sports Events / 2014 Vermont Shrine Team Head Coach Announced
« on: December 31, 2013, 07:32:36 AM »
Congratulations goes out to BFA Fairfax Bullets Head Coach, Mike Williams, for being selected as Head Coach for the Vermont Shrine Team 2014.  Well deserved!

From Burlington Free Press:
BFA-Fairfax football coach Mike Williams has been named the head coach of the Vermont team in the 61st Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl next August, according to a news release on Tuesday.

Williams, a graduate of Winooski High School and member of the 1982 Vermont Shrine team, has led Bullets program for eight seasons, compiling a record of 37-28 and going 7-4 last fall.

He served as an assistant coach for the Vermont Shrine team this past year.

David Jackson of Merrimack Valley will lead the New Hampshire Shrine team for the annual all-star game, which features graduated seniors from the Green Mountain and Granite states against one another each summer.

“This is more than a simple game between neighboring states — it offers an opportunity to raise money for the most worthy of causes,” Williams said in the release.

More than 200 players from Vermont and New Hampshire have been nominated to fill one of the 36 places on each state’s roster. The 2014 game will be played Aug. 2 on Dartmouth College’s Memorial Field.

General Discussion / Re: Is 128 still total chaos?

I drove it last night from Essex to Fairfax and did not have a problem.  Did notice in the South lane that it did not look as good as North lane.  Thought it was much better compared to August though.
