Elizabeth "Betty" Morgan
Elizabeth (Betty) Francis McDonald Morgan died November 24th after a short illness. Betty was born on October 28th, 1940, to Francis and Eleanor McDonald, and was the oldest of four children. She attended grade school at Towne Corners in Milton and graduated from Milton High School and attended UVM for a short time.
Betty is survived by her children: Robert Morgan and his wife Susan, Brian Morgan, Adam Morgan, her grandchildren: Nicolas Morgan, Jennifer Morgan, Jessica Landis and her husband Jake, Charlie Morgan and Christie and their daughter Sylvie Morgan, Aj Morgan,and Halie and their daughter Kora, Casey Allaway and his children: Maggie, Lily and Rosemary. She is also survived by honorary grandson’s Terrance Reilly and Scott Couture. She also leaves behind honorary family member, Stephanie Gagnon.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Calvin Morgan and her daughter Bridget Morgan.
She was also predeceased by her son, Calvin Morgan, Jr. who only lived a very short time. Betty was predeceased by her grandson, Timothee Morgan, and her granddaughter Ashlie White. Betty also leaves behind her siblings, Carol and James Bushey of Florida, Eleanor Parker of North Carolina, George and Marie McDonald of Milton, VT. Betty was predeceased by her youngest sister Sarah McDonald. Betty is survived by her in-laws, Ronald and Jane Morgan of Milton, Leland and Nancy Jo Morgan of Milton, Paul and Pauline Morgan of Florida, Joanne and Paul of Montgomery Center.
Betty was a well-known and meticulous crafter. She owned and operated ceramics shop out of her home, and she was extremely gifted as a needlework artist. Her work received notice and she was invited to create and design a Christmas Ornament which was displayed at the White House. Her love of needlework is evident in all of the works that line the walls of her home. She was also a talented quilter and was a long-time member of several quilting guilds. She traveled extensively with her husband Calvin at the wheel of their motorhome to quilting stores and classes around the greater northeast. Her love of fabric was evident in her sewing room. She created quilts for her grandchildren and donated to various charities. Betty was also an accomplished knitter and crocheter and through the years, her mittens were part of many mitten trees. Her children and many other children were warm with the many pairs of mittens she made for them. She also crafted many sweaters for her family.
In the 1980’s Betty became a pilot and flew her own plane. This was an accomplishment of which she was very proud. She would frequently in her later years talk about her time as pilot and how much she enjoyed learning to fly and her hours in the air.
In the early 1990’s Betty moved to Fairfax with her late husband and daughter to the farm with the big red barn on route 104, where they operated a secondhand shop for many years. Many Fridays, you could find Betty, Calvin, and Bridget at the Auction in St. Albans where they found treasures for the barn. Even after Calvin’s passing, you could find Betty and Bridget out and about at tag sales in the summer and craft fairs in the winter. With Calvin’s passing, Betty and Bridget settled in the blue house on Main Street in Fairfax. where she lived until her passing.

Bob passed away on November 23, 2023, at home. He is now at peace after battling Lewy Body Dementia/Disease for a few years.
Bob was born in Troy, NY to Robert L. Kissinger and Dorothy (Riley) Kissinger on October 16, 1942. He graduated from Tamarac High School in 1960. He went into the Marine Corp from high school and served during the Vietnam action. When he was through, he moved back to the Troy, NY area and worked at G.E. in Schenectady briefly before moving to Vermont and worked at IBM in Essex Jct., until his retirement. After retirement from IBM, he did various jobs both in the Burlington area and in Tucson AZ. His last ‘job’ was his best, helping out with the grandchildren.
Bob led an athletic lifestyle. He had varied interests when it came to sports and activities. He enjoyed both team sports and doing things on his own. One of his greatest joys was coaching little league both for his son’s team and many years later for his grandson and granddaughter; and then he coached just for fun. Some of his other interests/hobbies were hunting; scuba diving and finding treasures; fishing with his boat and down riggers; swimming; skiing; hiking; searching for treasures in the AZ mountains; bowling league; softball league. In doing these activities, he always enjoyed working with children and teaching them. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV such as football, NASCAR; horse racing; little league world playoffs.
In recent years, Trinity Presbyterian Church became a special place to him. He enjoyed his many conversations with Pastor Seth.
If there were no activities going on and nothing on TV, then he was up for a nice long drive and eating out.
Robert is survived by his wife Bertha (Young) of Fairfax, his son Robert (Rob) and wife Kimberly of Fairfax, and his two grandchildren – Dylan and Olivia – the apples of his eye! He also leaves his siblings: Keith (Pam) of Ballston Spa, NY, Tamara in Austin TX, and Mark (Dee) of Florida. Bob is also survived by his sisters-in-law Martha Ponder and Kathy French (Brian) and by many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, his dear sister Judy Laliberte, brother Eric, and sister Pamela.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA); Franklin County Hospice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Nurse Heather and all the team from Hospice for their loving care during the past three weeks.
Visiting hours will be held at AW Rich funeral home in Fairfax VT on Monday November 27, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, St. Albans on Tuesday November 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph Center, VT with date & time to be announced here.

Fairfax, VT - Carl R Jones passed away unexpectedly at home on November 10th, 2023.
Carl was born in Randolph, VT to Robert Jones and Eris Ljunggren on May 20th, 1950. Raised on the farm on Dairy Hill, Carl attended South Royalton High School and went on to complete an apprenticeship with GE 1970 to become a tool and die maker at the facility in South Burlington, VT., retiring in 1995 after 26 years. While working at GE Carl made many life-long friends and prided himself in being representative for his fellow union workers.
While living in Burlington he met Lila Marion Boulay who then became his wife of 52 years. Together they had a daughter, Bobbie Jean (Richmond) and two sons, Scott (Milton) and Travis (Hinesburg). Carl was also grandfather to 7 (Andrea, Karla, Cody, Katelyn, Alexis, Abigail and Elijah) and great grandfather to 5 (Jacob, Aubrey, Landon, Zackery, Keaghan) .
Throughout his life Carl had numerous hobbies including coaching baseball for his boys, playing pool and shooting skeet and trap at the Underhill Gun Club.
Carl is survived by his wife, Lila, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carl was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Eris and his two brothers, Nils and Eric Jones, both of South Royalton.
Per Carl’s wishes there will be no visiting hours or public services. If you are so inclined, rather than flowers you are invited to make a donation to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or Special Olympics of Vermont.

Fairfax – Sterling D. Coon a longtime Fairfax resident passed away Friday November 10, 2023, at Northwestern Medical Center with his family at his side.
One of 16 children, Sterling was born at home in St. Albans Bay on June 29, 1941, to the late Henry and Gertrude (Cross) Coon. Sterling had a close bond with all of his siblings growing up and those relationships continued throughout his adult life. Those who knew Sterling knew of his witty sense of humor and love for family. He was a high school graduate of the class of ’59 of BFA Saint Albans, where he was a member of the baseball team. He was a lifelong fan of the Red Sox. In his spare time, he enjoyed ice fishing and deer hunting
Sterling’s career in sales began in 1960 in St. Albans at Nate’s Clothing store. From there he moved to San Jose California to continue his career in retail sales and it was there that he met his wife. He eventually found his way back home to Vermont where he transitioned to becoming a food salesman. He was employed by many different wholesale food companies throughout the years and ended his successful 40 year career in the industry when he retired from Sysco Food in 2003.
Sterling leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years Janet (Desmarais) Coon, his children; Brent (Janice) Coon, Valerie (Zachary) Lipman, his grandchildren; Olivia and Joshua Coon, Makayla and Kendalyn Coon, Aiden, Isaac and Maya Lipman, as well as his brothers; Robert (Kathleen), Stuart (Helen), Henry, Dale (Marcia), Keith (Paula), Gregory Coon, and his sister; Catherine Ramsay, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Along with his parents, Sterling was predeceased by his son; Captain Scott Sterling Coon in 2020, his brothers; Orlando, Bruce, Bernard, Gerald, Johnson and Maurice Coon, his sisters; Joyce Coon, and Violet Draper, as well as many sister and brother in-laws of his extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fairfax Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 428, Fairfax, VT 05454.
Per Sterling’s request there will be no services at this time. Services for Sterling will be announced at a later date in 2024 by Sterling’s Family.

Barbara S Mayotte, 91, passed away on October 5, 2023, following a brief illness, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Fletcher VT on September 3, 1932, to Raynold and Marguerita (Tinker) Sweet, Barb lived her entire life in Fletcher. Upon graduation from BFA Fairfax, Class of 1950, Barb worked at TJ McGovern Stores in Cambridge VT from 1950 to 1959. While working at McGovern's Store, she met David. They were married in October 1959 and spent 64 years together, raising a family and running their two businesses together. They operated a jersey dairy farm from 1959 to 1997. After that they continued working side by side and ran a very successful business selling maple sugaring equipment and supplies, until retiring in 2013.
Barb leaves behind her husband David, son Richard Mayotte and Sandy of Fletcher, daughter Debbie Davis and Dave of Underhill, 2 granddaughters Anna Gabaree and Kyle of Fletcher, Colleen Butler and Kohlton of Underhill, 3 great-granddaughters, Maya and McKenzie Gabaree of Fletcher and Marina Butler of Underhill, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, brother and sister in law, Ernest and Catherine Sweet, and nephew Robert Sweet.
Barb loved to watch the many varieties of birds that would come to her feeders, all throughout the year, taking beautiful pictures of them. She loved being outside and taking care of her flowers, and mowing her lawn. She spent many hours on her lawn mower every summer, including last summer at the age of 90.
Barb was incredibly proud of her family and treasured the times when the family was together. She had many fond memories of taking Anna and Colleen on special summer vacations when they were young, teaching them so many of life's lessons along the way. She and David attended countless softball games for them both, giving their support and encouragement. Special times with Maya and Mckenzie were spent after school when they got off the bus at her house, and she often had a special task or project she would engage them in, passing along her patience and guidance to them also. She got to enjoy nearly the entire first year of Marina's life, watching her grow, and always had a big big smile when Marina was in her lap. She taught all of us the true meaning of love and kindness, and had a gentleness that we will treasure forever.
The family would like to express a very special sincere thank you to close family friend Nancy Cardinal for her care and support during Barb's final days. Also to Franklin County Home Health.
Per Barb's wishes, services will be private for immediate family.

Norma P. Cherrier, 98, of Fletcher, Vermont passed away Friday, September 29, 2023 after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 31, 1924 in Westford, Vt daughter of the late Bernard and Marion (McLane) Parker.
Norma graduated from BFA – Fairfax, Class of 1943. She married her high school sweetheart on November 2, 1946 in Essex Jct., Vermont. Norma was a stay at home mom, and eventually went to work at Sears in Burlington for 15 years.
She loved her flowers, watching the many different kinds of birds she had coming to her feeders, crocheting, knitting, sewing, reading and the past few months putting puzzles together.
Norma leaves behind her five children and their spouses, Edmund and Diane Cherrier of Isle LaMott, Linda Sweet of Fletcher, Judy and Allan Salter of Westford, Lorraine and Brian King of Fairfax and Gary and Angel Cherrier of Milton. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren Douglas & Angela Cherrier, David & Sarah Cherrier, Kelly & Joan Sweet, Karrie Ann & Bill Sweet Werneke, Brandy & Shawn Lawrence, Scott & Jessie Salter, Jamie & Michelle Salter, Matthew & Michelle King, Daniel & Chassidy King, Melissa and Adam Minor and Amanda Cherrier and Kalan Ingalls, 22 great grandchildren, her sister Margery Koslowski and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald in February 2023 and her son-in-law Robert Sweet.
A big thank you to Home Health and a very special thank you to Nancy Cardinal for their loving care afforded to mom.

Ande (Andrea Mason) White of Fairfax, Vermont, who spread love, laughter, and caring to her wide circle of family, friends, and students died on September 21, 2023 at the University of Vermont Medical Center of sudden onset Leukemia.
She is survived by her beloved partner of 26 years Marty (Martin) Minor with whom she shared an incredible relationship of mutual support and delight, and by her sister Pamela (Pam) Mason White with whom she was intertwined like honeysuckle vines. She is also survived by her brothers Douglas and Phillip White; three nephews— Ming Huei White Fisher (for whom she was a second mother), Quintin White, Douglas White; three nieces— Roxanne White Timsit, Simone White, and Sarah White; her new grand-niece Dylan Timsit; her devoted Uncle Gil and Aunt Bili Mason; her cousins; sisters-in-law; the marvelous Minor family; and Ande’s enormous ‘village’ of friends who worked tirelessly to bring her positive energy during her life and final days. All adored Ande, and Ande adored them. A very special relationship was with her cherished eldest brother Don White who predeceased her in 2021.
Ande was born on January 1, 1957 in Newport, RI, the state’s first baby that year, to Gloria and Donald White. She grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts and graduated from the Cambridge School of Weston. An avid skier since childhood, the family had a vacation home in Franconia NH from where they skied Canon Mountain, and Ande became a ski instructor. For college, she moved to the Rockies where she gracefully skied the powder while earning a degree in art history from the University of Utah.
But from high school, her passion for equestrianism grew and she chose to pursue what became an illustrious career in dressage. In 1982 Ande moved to Vermont to be groom for Carol Lavell. Together they travelled to the Barcelona Olympics and won the first US medal for dressage in Olympic history.
Ande soon became an avid Vermonter. When Carol retired, Ande built a successful business teaching dressage. To her generations of students, she was not only instructor but also mentor and dedicated friend. She cherished and maintained those friendships throughout her life.
Ande’s loving, laughing presence will remain forever with Marty, Pam, and all of us whom she touched so profoundly. Ande modeled how to live a compassionate, committed, fully present, and exquisitely joyous life. Her sun, her sparkle will never dim in our memories and in our hearts.

Saint Albans – Scott Paul Popple a lifelong area resident passed away Saturday, September 23rd, 2023, at the UVM Medical Center following a brief illness with his family at his side. Born in Montpelier, Vermont on December 14th, 1953, he was the son of the late Howard and Barbara (Stewart) Popple, Jr. Scott was 69 years old.
On September 23rd, 1995, Scott married Betty Towle, who survives him.
Scott was a 1972 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in Fairfax and then went on to serve his country in the US Air Force, receiving his honorable discharge in April of 1978. He will best be remembered for his sense of humor, best jokes and generosity. He loved being a PAPA facetiming almost every day and spending time in Myrtle Beach with Sam & his little buddy Noah. Scott always enjoyed his time with Brad and the boys at Buck ‘N Horn camp in The Gibou.
Scott was employed by the St. Albans City Fire Department, Heald’s Ambulance Service, Engleberth Construction, Local Sprinkler companies, Runamok Maple, and few other companies after semi-retirement, as his buddy Johnny would say another one for the books Pop! He was a longtime member of Green Mountain Post #1, American Legion. Served a term as second Vice. and AKA the Egg man with the breakfast crew.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Betty of St. Albans; Daughter Samantha Popple and her son Noah Scott of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; sons, Cory Popple and family of Highgate and Josh of St. Albans, Stepson Serge and his partner Jason of Brooklyn, NY; Sister Sheri Rainville and her husband Mark, Of Georgia; his in-laws Robert Towle of St Albans; Jane Towle and Jean Schefer of Vienna, VA; Laura and Donald Gilbert of Swanton; as well as nieces and nephews, Lauri Bellows Fisher (Dale), Nate Bellows (Sherry & family), Matt (Mira), Adam (Renee), Brenon (Rachael) Rainville and families, Nicholas Bouchard (Karissa), Makayla Gilbert (David), & Kyle Gilbert.
In addition to his parents, Scott was predeceased by his brother Herbert S. Popple on August 3rd, 2017, and Father and Mother-in-law Wellington and Theresa Towle.
A Celebration of Scott’s life will be on Thursday, September 28th, 2023, at the American Legion Hall, 100 Parah Drive, St. Albans beginning with military honors at 4:00 PM with an open house continuing until 7:00 PM.
Betty and family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Dr’s and staff @ UVM Medical Center on Miller 4 & 5 for their exceptional care during his illness.

Lawrence Parsons "Tex"
Lawrence (Tex) Parsons, 71, died on September 10, at his home in Fairfax, VT. Lawrence was born April 27, 1952 in Amarillo, TX. Given his birthplace he quickly aquired the nick name of “Tex” a name that suited him well and the name by which he would forever be known. Tex leaves his brother Charles and his wife Gail of Swanzey, NH, sister Sue of Conway, SC, brother David and his wife Linda of Columbia, SC, a nephew, Drew Parsons of Manchester, NH, a niece, Kate Coyle, her husband Gary and their sons, Ryatt and Raider of Columbia, SC. Tex also leaves many good friends and acquaintances. Tex is predeceased by his parents Larry and Carry Parsons formerly of Fairfax and a nephew, Christopher Parsons, formerly of Clifton Park, NY.
Tex grew up in Fairfax and graduated from BFA, Fairfax in 1970. After school he went to work in the construction trade working for J&L Foundations, Griswold, and Ireland. Former co-workers said that they enjoyed working next to Tex. Tex was also a dedicated lifetime member of the Fairfax Fire Department and reached the rank of Captain.
While he enjoyed anything outdoors, he loved to fish, and was skilled with a bow, his true passion was anything to do with guns. He loved to hunt and was an expert Skeet shooter winning or placing in many contests. Tex was a life-time member of the Underhill Rod and Gun Club.
Always a lover of dogs and owning many through his life, Tex could often be seen driving around accompanied by his furry companions. Tex was a loner who enjoyed small groups of friends and avoided formal gatherings. It is with this in mind that honoring Tex’s wishes, there will be no formal services. A very informal “celebration of life” may be held in the near future.

Andrew Barry Brown
WINOOSKI/FAIRFAX: Andrew Barry Brown Jr., age 76, passed away in Winooski surrounded by his family, on September 3, 2023, after battling with melanoma.
Andy was born on January 3, 1947, the son of Rhoda (Bassett) and Andrew B. Brown in Bay Shore, NY. Because his father served in the US Army, Andy spent his childhood moving with his family within the United States and places overseas such as Japan and Germany. The family eventually settled in Bakersfield, VT.
Andy graduated high school from Brigham Academy in 1965 and went on to study mathematics at Johnson State College.
After graduating with a degree in mathematics Andy started his first teaching job at St. Albans Town School in 1972 where he taught for over 37 years until his retirement. During that time Andy earned a Masters in Math Education from the University of Vermont. After retirement, because of his love of math and lifelong learning, he became an instructor at CCV helping students learn Algebra. Throughout Andy’s life, he shared his view of the world around him through photography. His images captured his love for his family and his special places – the beach and times in nature. When Andy retired, he furthered his photography art by practicing digital painting using his photographs as a base for the work. He was a member of the Northern Vermont Artist Association.
Andy married Sandy Hall in 1979 in St. Albans. They resided in the wonderful Windtop neighborhood in Fairfax where their two children, Courtney and Megan, spent their childhoods until moving on to college. Since 2009 Sandy and Andy have been enjoying life in the town of Winooski.
Andy lived his life with his family as the focus. He attended all his daughters’ sports activities and school events and continued to participate in his grandkids’ activities. He instilled in his daughters his love of family, the environment, and learning. Many summer vacations were spent in Maine or Cape Cod enjoying the ocean. Andy loved family adventures such as the cross-country camping trip from Vermont to California with everyone packed into the Camry.
Andrew was predeceased by his parents and brother, Charlie Brown. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughter Courtney Laflin, her husband Jeremy and daughters, Clara and Isabelle (Rockledge, FL); daughter Megan Klinefelter, her husband Bob and son, Tommy (Essex, VT.) He is also survived by his sister Charlotte Sue Langreich, and brothers Walter, Warren, Carlton, Greg (Dale), Jerry (Sue), and Noel (Maureen); and by several much-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In honor of his lifelong commitment to taking care of the earth and the environment, Andy chose a green burial. A memorial celebration of Andy’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
The family wants to thank Dr. Rehman and her oncology team, the Miller 5 nursing staff, and the UVM Home Health and Hospice team.

Jean Carol Gregoire
Jean Carol Gregoire (Quagliaroli) passed away on August 10, 2023 in St. Albans, VT. Born on July 15, 1940 in Hartford, CT. Jean grew up in Windsor Locks, CT with her parents and four older sisters.
She met the love of her life, Bernard Gregoire, while he was renting an apt from her Aunt next door. The two love birds married in 1961 and began a family shortly after. In 1965, with two sons born and another child on the way, the family moved to St. Albans, VT so Bernie could begin his career at IBM. Preparing for a larger family, they began construction on a house in Fairfax, VT in 1967 and moved in the following year just before their last two children were born. Now a family of seven, they became regular attendees of St. Luke's Catholic Parish.
Jean was a devoted housewife and mother and always there for her family. She enjoyed her flower gardens, especially roses and African violets and making granny squares. Jean was always grateful for the good friendships she made in the town and socializing with the neighbors. The door was always open for friends and family to visit. As often as she could, she traveled to CT to see her family.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Bernard Gregoire, Sr, her parents - Joe and Jessie Quagliaroli, Gerard and Alice Gregoire (Bernie’s parents), two sisters Joan and Jeanette, five brother in laws, three nephews and one niece. She is survived by two sisters, Joyce and Janice (twin). Jean leaves behind her five children - Bernard, Jr., David (Tammi), Patty, Mark, and Linda; and 11 grandchildren - Stephen, Joseph, Rebecca, Danielle, Matthew, Abigail, Justin, Luc, Naomi, Brenden and Nicole and 5 great grandchildren - Vylet, Francesca, Vincent, Jasher, Theodore and another on the way.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 6pm-8pm in the Minor Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Milton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Luke's Church, Fairfax on Saturday August 19 at 11am. Burial to follow in St. Luke's Cemetery Fairfax.

Fletcher - Eleanor Alice (Broe) Cross, 75, passed away on Thursday July 27, 2023 at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. She was born on April 1, 1948, daughter of the late Reginald and Nellie (Rich) Broe. Eleanor married John Cross on July 4, 1970. Eleanor attended BFA Fairfax graduating in 1968. She was a stay-at-home mother raising her 3 children until they were all in school when she began working part-time at Smuggler’s Notch as a room cleaner. She also worked as a private house cleaner as well as a custodian at BFA Fairfax.
Eleanor was an avid knitter, quilter and reader of many romance novels. She loved baking and you could always find a fresh pie, or a batch of homemade buttermilk donuts in her kitchen. In the Summer, you could always find Eleanor and her family canning every vegetable you could imagine as well as making pickles and many jams and jellies. This is a trait that she passed along to her Son Harold and Daughter Stacey who love canning and pickling and learned their love of cooking and baking from her as well. She loved playing cards with friends and family, especially poker and thirty-one but her all time favorite activity was ATV riding with her husband John. Whether it was a quick ride on the trails around their home or an extended trip to Canada or Maine with their many ATV friends. Eleanor was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles No 1527 Auxiliary, Jeffersonville, VT.
Eleanor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great great grandmother and nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her family.
Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 53 years John Cross, son Harold Cross and life partner Joseph Russell, two daughters Stacey Sylvestre and partner James DiTullio, Heather Cross, brothers Gary Broe and wife Ann, Greg Broe and partner Cindy Brio, sisters-in-law Pat Broe, Laurie Broe and Vicky Broe, six grandchildren Alexandria Bathalon and husband Brandon, Nathan Cross, Jordan Stevens, Allison Naylor, Liam Sylvestre, Tanysha Sylvestre, five great grandchildren Lucas, Aurora, Shepherd, Scarlett, Nash, several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her brothers Reginald “Reggie” Broe Jr., Jeffrey Broe, Bert Broe and Michael Broe.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at A W Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday August 3, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Church of Fairfax with Reverend Katherine Arthaud officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in Sanderson Corners Cemetery. A celebration of Eleanor’s life will take place at the Cross Home in Fletcher. Please bring a dish to share if you so choose. Fairfax – Pauline (Webb) Lavallee, 82, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2023, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in St. Albans on March 5, 1941, daughter of the late S. William and Marion (Leach) Webb. She married Paul Lavallee on May 17, 1985, in Fairfax, Vermont.
Though Pauline spent her professional life in the banking industry, her biggest secure deposits were in the love and support of her family. Pauline was the matriarch of her clan. She always gave the best hugs. If you asked her opinion, you would get it – unfiltered. She was funny, and kind, and was always up for a good party. The pineapple pies she made each year for the Fairfax Vermont Historical Society Annual Pie and Ice Cream Social and Band Concert was a thing of legend. She enjoyed Stamping immensely. She loved watching Jeopardy. She would always read mysteries and you could often find a James Patterson novel by her side. She was always the life of the party. And proper nosy! - - always ready to help and never backed away from a good challenge or a healthy (and lively) debate! And her laughter – her laughter would turn on every light in the room!
Pauline is survived by her loving husband of 38 years Paul Lavallee, five sons; David Shepardson of Reisterstown, MD, Douglas Shepardson of Fairfax, VT, Thomas Lavallee of Rock Hill SC, David Lavallee of St. Albans, VT, George Lavallee of Miami Beach, FL, two daughters; Carol Graves and her husband Michael of Rondo, MO, Nancy Benoit and her husband John of Santee, SC, three sisters; Wanda Nichols and her husband John, of Lake Placid, FL, Shirley Wood and her husband Mike, of Flat Rock, NC, Martha Webb of Aberdeen, WA, a sister-in-law; Claire Lemnah and her husband Ralph of Fairfax, VT; five grandchildren; Amanda Graves and her brother Christopher, Thomas Benoit, Jennifer Lavallee, and Jack Shepardson; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews cousins, and many dear friends. Pauline will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Curtis Elliott Cooper, 70, of Fairfax, Vt, passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of family on July 22, 2023, due to complications from PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). Even when things got difficult, he never gave up his humor and the sparkle in his eye. His laugh and bright smile will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Curtis was born the youngest of two children on August 5th, 1952 to Maurice (Bill) and Shirley (Young) Cooper in Springfield, Vt. After he graduated from Springfield High School in 1970, he went on to study Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology at Vermont Technical College.
After graduating with a degree in Engineering, he started at Simmonds Precision Products in Vergennes, Vt, kickstarting a 20+ year career continuing on to Belden Wire and Cable in Essex, Vt as lead technician.
In 1982, Curtis met Linda (Evarts) Cooper in Vergennes, Vt and went on to raise 3 daughters in the home he built in Charlotte, Vt.
Curtis wore many hats: husband, poppy, dad, uncle, brother, son, pet lover, Mr. Dependable, drummer, skier, avid star watcher and Celtics fan. He was our finance guy, always planning for the future for our family. He was never one to toss a broken electronic that could be taken apart to be “fixed” in the basement. In his younger years he could be found on the mountain skiing, at a lake fishing or catching a show in the local clubs from a newly created band called Aerosmith. He was a low-key man and preferred quiet nights watching a game or show snuggled up to one of the many cats and dogs we had over the years. But when it came to music, he could really rock on his drum set, finger drumming or foot tapping to the beat with the loudest of them. Raising his girls was no small feat. As a girl-dad, he prided himself on patience, always showing up for them (no matter how long the wait), providing some of the best advice, fixing anything, and being the best example of a man, even if that meant spending a day riding the lawn mower for some peace.
Curtis was predeceased by his father Maurice Cooper. He is survived by his mother Shirley Cooper of Springfield, Vt, loving wife Linda Cooper of Fairfax, Vt, daughters Christine (Chuck) Wiegand of Jeffersonville, Vt, Billie Crane (Craig Butkus) of South Burlington, Vt, Jenny (Kurt) Hunt of Williamsburg, Va, grandchildren Dakota & Samantha Crane, Charles & Celia Wiegand, Henry & Levi Hunt, sister Deanna (Buddy) Dexter of Springfield, Vt and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Nancy Hadley (sister in-law) for her endless support during this difficult time. We also deeply appreciate the care and compassion of the Franklin County Home Health Hospice team members, Heather and Nicole, as well as Diane Gagnon and Wayne Crandall with Home Instead.
A private service will be held at Grand View Cemetery at the Charlotte Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, Vermont Chapter. Please visit awrfh.com to share your memories and condolences.
