I'd also like to echo a Happy Birthday to Tee, one of the nicest ladies I've ever had the pleasure to know and work with!

Is salt brine any worse for our cars than the salt they've been using for many years? I haven't read anything regarding salt brine, and the WCAX link in the original note doesn't work for me.

In my humble opinion, the VSP did their job exactly as it should be done. I agree completely with what Thor and David Shea, and most of what FXDHS, had to say. I don't understand why people are upset about this. Those folks are here illegally, send them home!

I just bought a couple. I've used Jump-on-it a couple of times in the past, and it is great.
Finding out about this deal on Henry's website is just one more reason to read it every day!

My recomendation would be David Byers from right here in Fairfax. Great to do business with. He built my house, and I couldn't be happier with his workmanship.

My driveway crosses Wilkins Brook. I parked my cars on the road side of the brook last night as a precaution (we got caught before with a washed out driveway and the cars on the wrong side..). Between 7:15 and 8:15 last night, the brook came up more than 6 feet at my culvert (I have one 5 foot culvert, a 3 foot culvert on either side of that one, and a 4 footer on top of the 5 footer) . It started going down at about 8:45, and by 9:15 it had gone down more than 2 feet. I came close to losing my driveway. Last time that happened, it cost me 2K$ for repairs. Guess we dodged a bullet this time!

Mike, I'll also chime in with a 'Thanks Mike!' What a delightful, insightful commentary (except for the part about your health problems. My wife and I were saddened to read that Mike).

I have been experiencing the same degraded service concerns with my Fairpoint DSL service as JLB has. I live on Wilkins Road. I've had DSL service here for several years, and it has always been very good up till the last couple of months or so. There are times here where it isn't any faster, maybe not as fast as, dial up service. If this continues, I'll be looking elsewhere for my internet service.

Here are some more gas saving tips I recently received from a friend -
Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.
When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.
One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.
Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

logical - I have to agree, and disagree, with some of what you said. You said - " I do not believe that kindergarten should be used as a means of daycare". I agree with that statement. I believe kindergarten prepares our kids for first grade. I also agree that it is a huge leg up if our kids can read and write before they enter first grade. My kids and my grandkids all did. You also said - "We as parents are the primary teachers in our children's life and need to ensure that education begins at home". I couldn't agree more with this statement.
I have to disagree with this statement - "I full heartedly believe that Fairfax should provide full-time daycare". Why should I help pay for your daycare needs? Nobody helped me out when my kids were young. My wife and I did what we needed to do to make sure our kids were well taken care of. Your kids are your responsibility, as are your daycare needs.
