Current News & Events / Re: JoAnne Captures A Rabbit & A Robin

Has anyone else noticed a lot more rabbits around this past year?

Yes, we've never had rabbitts over here on my section of Wilkins Rd, and now there are tracks everywhere.
We've been here over 20 years.

Yes, knowing approximate pick up times would be great to know. I always try to put it out just a little before pickup time because I've had problems with critters gettting into it, especially the crows. They can make a mess in a hurry!

Thanks for your help

They missed my garbage on Wilkins Rd. Not a big deal, I'll put it back out next week. I just hope they get it next week.

Can somebody teach me how to shoot? Don't want to kill, ....just nick the ankle, get him on the ground and pour cat doo doo on him.

I attended two handgun self defense classes this fall at the Sig Sauer Academy in Epping NH, and have since purchased two handguns. There is enough of this bad stuff going around our town recently to make me feel like I needed to able to protect myself and my family. I practice often, and hope and
pray I never need to put my training to use.

I realize your comment was a little 'tongue in cheek', but this is a serious subject.

Not sure of the details on this particular incident, but most of the time when a truck or bus gets stuck up in the Notch, it's usually an out of state driver simply following his GPS directions.

Current News & Events / Re: The Turkey Vultures Are Back
« on: March 29, 2013, 06:11:49 AM »
For those that haven't seen one of these birds up close, they are huge! Lat spring I had to shoot a porcupine one morning that was chewing the moulding around my garage door. I chased him off two mornings in a row, the 3rd morning I decided would be the last. I had to rush off to work, so I moved it to the outside edge of my lawn, and was planning on burying it when I got home from work. When I got home, there were 7 turkey vultures surrounding what was left of the carcass. I got to watch them in action. It was quite a sight. There were a couple of big ones that had to have at least a 4-5 foot wing span. When they decided to leave, all that was left was a bare skull. Made my job easy.

Similar to what Raz said, I always sign the back of my cards with "Ask for photo ID".

from Senator Don Collins

Thanks to everyone in Fairfax and Fletcher who contacted on me about the "gun bill" S.32.  It appeared that there might be a hearing on the bill, but as of this time it appears that this bill will not come out of committee for a vote by the full Senate.  Senator Don Collins

This is good news!

In my opinion, they aren't beautiful, nor are they ugly. They're just 'there', sort of like telephone poles alongside the roads. Not a big deal.

My wife and I have eaten there quite a few times, never had a bad meal. Service was always prompt and friendly.

Chalk me up as another happy customer of Ed! I had a water pump die on me a couple of years ago, about in the middle of the day. I called Jeff at J&L Hardware, and asked him if he could recommend a good plumber. He suggested Ed. I called Ed, described to him what happened and what I had, he showed up about an hour later with everything he needed to do the job. I couldn't have been happier with his service or his work.

We will definitely stop in again, soon. Everything we've heard about their market has been positive.

My wife tried to make a purchase today. She went in, no one was there. She waited 10 mins, and left. Too bad, we were looking forward to trying your stuff.

General Discussion / Re: Fletcher Road Speed Limits
« on: July 27, 2012, 06:23:47 AM »
From the Minutes of 6/26/2012:

"Chris made a motion to adopt the speed study for Fletcher Road at 40 m.p.h. from approximately FR0099 to extend to the Fletcher Town line. Tom seconded the motion. Discussion. The motion carried with a vote of 4-0-1."

How about at the next Selectboard Meeting Chris, you make the motion to recind this.  The Fairfax Town Garage perhaps has the best entrance & exit view in town.  To the best of my knowledge, there has never been an accident there.  I find it just a bit out to lunch to require a petition of 5% of the voters to get this on a ballot where 4,000 or so voters are asked if they want to undo what 4 people did.

There is a snow ball's chance in hell that this would ever happen and my suggestion would be that the Selectboard find some way of correcting this.

I strongly agree with Henry on this! Chris, are you listening to all of us? So far I've counted 2 folks in favor of the change, and all the rest of us oppose it.
