So my family and I have only been in VT for the last 3 yrs....with all of these recent breakins, my wife and I have been discussing owning a handgun, especially with 2 little children in the house.  We are very responsible people and have every intention of locking this weapon away and kept out of reach of the children of course.
So this brings me to my question: Is it true that you dont need a permit or a license to purchase or carry a handgun or rifle in VT?  My home state of MA has much different laws I hear, I want to make sure I am following the laws of this great state.  Thank you, any input you could provide would be appreciated

Same happened to us, lost power just for a few seconds on Megan Rd.  I was wondering what caused it, thank you Henry

Working at General Dynamics (they work government contracts) in Needham, MA.... went to the cafe for a coffee and saw the news coverage of the 1st plane, sat down to watch and saw the 2nd plane hit live on TV...many concerned at work, some... new people in the Towers and at the Pentagon as well....not many dry faces there that day. The entire cafe was full, people just staring at the TVs for hrs....not alot of work got done that day....Never Forget, good topic....a friend of mine was one of the ones running down streets that day getting away from the smoke and debris...he was ok but he has an interesting story...god bless all

I guess it was felt as far away as Toronto.  Friends in Boston were evacuated from their buildings for a short time even.  Didnt feel anything here in Colchester but others did

We too had a bunch of flying insects (ants) around our neighborhood last night too.  Not only that but woke up to an abundance of spider webs all over the yard, in the trees and back deck.....couldnt believe it.  Seems as though the weather brought all the insects out

Went through Essex Junction this morning, the Mobil across from the McDonalds near the outlets, is advertised as 3.48 a gal...when I went to fill up the cost on the pump was actually 3.45...not sure if they made a mistake or they just didnt change their sign yet but if you around that area not a bad place to stop

Possibly a Brown Luna Moth ...has the same markings

We are lucky to have them right in our backyard practically.  Its a hidden gem tucked away on Goose Pond Rd for those of you who havent visited.  They have lots of flowers and plants as well.  Our kids love Strawberry and Rasberry picking season as well.
I was curious with all of this flooding, did it effect RiverBerry?  I noticed flooding in the back of their fields these last couple of months?  Anyone know?

Hi Nancy,
I am not sure if the town will clean up the Falls area, but I wanted to respond regarding your kayaks.  I, too, like to kayak the river.  One spot you can drop them in is across the street from the beginning of Shepardsons Hollow Rd on River Rd.  If you walk in, or drive in later in the summer when it isnt so wet on the trail, you can drop the kayaks in there and head out.  I also drop my kayaks in at the top of the falls when the river is calmer.  There a small trail leading down to the river that is a "Canoe launch" area.  At this point I kayak up the river which is quite pleasant when the river turns away from the rd (104).  Another place I like to go is Arrowhead Lake off of 104A..I know it isnt right in town but its an easy in and out type place to launch the kayaks.  I hope this info helped a little bit.
I agree with the idea of a cleanup day, that is a great area to take the family to.

We just recently purchased a new gas cooking stove from home deport.  I was unaware of the law Vermont has to where the company needs to be gas certified to unhook and reconnect these gas cooking stoves.  Home Deport is not certified in doing this.  We have to call someone, that is certified to now do this for us...anyone know of a local who is certified in doing this.  Seems silly that a simple disconnect/reconnect will end up charging addtl costs.  I do understand the protocol I guess, safety first
