Library Announcements / Fairfax Community Library - New Books in July

The library has many new books this summer! On the list of new books, you’ll find a cookbook from America’s Test Kitchen called, Boards: Stylish Spreads for Casual Gatherings, and a new book by Vermont author Bill McKibben called, The Flag, the Cross, & the Station Wagon. You might also choose to read Mary Pipher’s new memoir called, A Life in Light, or reflections on time spent fishing in Casting Onward: Adventures in Search of America’s Native Gamefish, by Steve Ramirez.

Here are some of the new fiction books in the library: A Psalm for the Wild-Built, by Becky Chambers; Good Morning, Love, by Ashley M. Coleman; An Island Wedding, by Jenny Colgan; Flint and Mirror, by John Crowley; Fellowship Point, by Alice Elliott Dark; and Look Closer, by David Ellis.

Saturday, March 5, 1 pm: What's It Worth? Appraisal Program
Have you ever wondered what that collectible might be worth? Sign up to be part of a virtual appraisal program with author and appraiser, Mike Ivankovich. Participants can attend in person at the St. Albans Free Library or via Zoom. Ages 18+ (This program is in collaboration with the St. Albans Free Library).

Get creative with some air-dry clay! Materials provided. Ages 8+

Wednesday, March 16, 3 pm: Marbled Paper DIY
Make pretty marbled paper using shaving cream! Ages 8+

The library will host a program on personal finance topics with a financial literacy expert. This month's program theme is Fraud Awareness. Ages 18+

The Fairfax Community Library will be open to the public for regular hours on the following days between now and the start of the new year:
Mon 12/20, Tues 12/21, Wed 12/22, and Thurs 12/23, Tues 12/28, Wed 12/29, and Thurs 12/30/21

Library closed: Fri 12/24, Sat 12/25, Mon 12/27, Fri 12/31/21, and Sat 1/1/22

Regular library hours resume: Mon 1/3/22
Library hours: ​Mon, Wed, Fri - 10:00 am to 5:30 pm; Tues & Thurs - 9:00 am to 7:00 pm; Sat - 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The Fairfax Community Library will now be open on Monday, Wednesday, & Friday from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm; Tuesday & Thursday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm; Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. On Thanksgiving, 11/25, the library will be closed. Library hours on Friday, 11/26, will be from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Library Announcements / Fairfax Community Library Early Literacy Project

The Board of Trustees for the Fairfax Community Library is planning a Literacy Outreach project aimed at children ages 3-5 and their families. Our goal is support families with preschool aged children by offering literacy materials, activities, and strategies to support learning at home. We have reached out to several Early Childhood Education programs, Preschools and Daycare Centers in Fairfax. If your child is not attending a program that has received this information, we want to make sure you are able to participate in this project. For more information, please contact Lisa Griswold at grisvt15@gmail.com.

Library Announcements / Library Recreation Passes

The Fairfax Community Library has recreation passes for 2020! Library patrons can reserve a VT State Parks Day Use Pass or a VT Historic Sites Pass to visit Vermont recreation areas this summer. Passes can be reserved by phone (802-849-2420) and can be picked up at the Curbside Pickup table on either Wednesdays (1:00 - 5:00 pm) or Thursdays (3:00 - 7:00 pm). Passes can be borrowed for up to 4 days and returned in the book return bin at the end of the borrowing time. Thank you!
