Current News & Events / Heroin bust in Burlington
« on: May 14, 2014, 06:17:34 PM »
(Henry please remove if you don't approve, but I have removed the name so I think it's ok?)

The suspect was a past resident of Fairfax, I assume he lives in Chittenden county now...

Wcax.com:

Police think they've caught the man selling a strong batch of heroin that has caused a series of drug overdoses in Chittenden County.

Two weeks ago, doctors at Fletcher Allen Health Care alerted the media after nine overdoses in one day, which is an unusually high number.

Police say the packets of heroin in at least one of those overdoses and another this week contained the words "DO NOT ENTER."

The latest overdose victim helped police set up a controlled buy and arrested xxxxxxxx for selling those same packets.

Current News & Events / perpetual garage sale...
« on: April 14, 2013, 05:00:02 PM »
Just have to ask... has the town weighed in on the guy acoss from steeple market that is constantly selling stuff on his lawn? I dont really care if he does it all year, but people parking all over the side of the road there makes a dangerous area even worse. Is there something the town can do to prevent all those people from parking on the side of the road? I am getting sick of dodging traffic in that stretch...

Current News & Events / news piece done on our seniors here at BFA
« on: March 06, 2012, 10:42:11 PM »
Was this already posted and I missed it? If so, I apologize.

I found a nice clip that wcax did on our seniors here at BFA. I have had the chance to interact with
some of these seniors at plays, blood drives etc. I have to say that I have been impressed with how
bright, motivated, and pleasant they all are. Kudos to this years seniors, I have no doubt they will go far.

Current News & Events / Red fox on main street?
« on: January 08, 2012, 01:32:17 AM »
I live right on Main Street here in Fairfax. I came home from work tonight and as I was walking to the door I looked back toward my car and saw something move on the other side of the hedges just off the lawn. I stopped to see what it was as there has been loose dogs and cats around before. To my surprise, the critter turned and ran up the driveway and onto Main Street. It ran into the streetlight and to my surprise it was a large red fox! I whistled and he stopped and looked at me for a second, then turned and ran north right up the yellow line of the road. Trying to find a meal amidst the snow I suppose.

Now, he looked healthy and it was at night, but just wanted to give people a heads up that I saw it right in town. If you do see it during the day you should call someone (not sure who in town) because it may be rabid, as foxes are nocturnal. Those of you who have small children and pets may just want to keep an eye on them when outdoors.

Josh, you up for getting the call if someone sees this thing out during the day?

Current News & Events / BFA cutting down on the arts?
« on: October 05, 2010, 10:37:22 PM »
Attention all BFA Alums! I heard through the grapevine that BFA is planning on reducing the hours of BFA's band instructor Bruce McRae down to 75% of full time. In my opinion, this is the first step in the wrong direction for a school that has a rich and proud history of excellent and successful drama clubs and band. Arts are always the first to suffer from budgetary issues, but they play an important and valuable role in many students growth and education. I know that to many of us the arts had at least some positive part in our time at BFA. Whether it was drama or band or both, please, anyone who supports the arts (or Bruce) should contact the school and/or school board via email or phone and let them know your thoughts on this either way.

See the link below if you want some info on why the arts are so important.

Current News & Events / sheriff in private driveway...
« on: June 01, 2010, 09:56:52 AM »
Just wondering if it is kosher for cops to park in your driveway to radar Main Street without your permission?

My gut tells me that this is not allowed, but it didn't stop one from doing it this morning...  I am not sure what the law says though...

Anyone know?

Current News & Events / Thank you Henry!
« on: October 07, 2009, 05:05:11 PM »
I just wanted to once again say thank you to Henry for running this site. What a great way for the people in town to be able to get together and be able to discuss current issue and topics. I can't tell you how often I hear "I saw such and such on Henrys site."  You truly provide a valuable and appreciated service to not only current residents, but also to all of those who have moved elsewhere.  I know people tell Henry what a great job he does, but I don't know how often he gets thanked for the work he puts into this site.

Please join me in thanking Henry for what he does, and show your appreciation by posting him a "thank you" to this message.
