General Discussion / Looking for Neckties
« on: March 21, 2013, 01:27:35 PM »
I just got a message from a couple of people in town that want to make a tie quilt to raffle off at Art in Bloom this year. We are wondering if any of you have any old ties that you would be willing to donate. We need about 100 or so of them to make the quilts. They can be given to Carol Stanley at BFA or Shelly Pottala. I can make arrangements to pick up or you can drop them off with me. I am on Fletcher Road. Art in Bloom is July 27th at 10:00 a.m. It is a fund raiser for BFA Nordic Ski team. If you would like to donate time, money or become a vendor, please let me know. Shelly Pottala, 849-2570. Thak you all for your help. It is because of people like you that make this possible. Have a beautiful day.

We are also always in need of old ski's to build the ski chairs and tables. It was a ton of fun last year. Hope to see you there.

Please join us for a day of good food, "new" live music and beautiful things. It should be a wonderful day. Lots of raffle items, face painting, maple cotton candy, free ice cream and a petting zoo for the kiddos. Hope to see you there in downtown Fairfax at Swanson's Farm. Shelly

Current News & Events / Christmas Traditions

I have always hidden the pickle on the Christmas tree and now that they are older they really enjoy trying to find it. If you find it on Christmas Eve you get to open one present early. We also spend a day making ginger bread houses (cities) and a couple of days making cookies to show our appreciation for the ones that take care of us throughout the year (mechanic, pharmasist, dr. etc).As a little girl  I could not wait to have children and make our new traditions. We have a lot of them really and I love it. I especially like the raw egg over the head on Easter. ha ha What a wonderful time of year. Merry Christmas to all from our home to yours. Shelly

General Discussion / How prepared are you?
« on: November 09, 2010, 06:21:19 AM »
I am reading a book that makes you wonder. " How to survive the end of the world as we know it" It talks about tactics, techniques and technologies for uncertain times. Basically if we lost electicity what would we do? What would happem just right here in Fairfax. How would we communicate to one another? Good book but scary. What do you think we would we do? Does the town have a plan?

We have had a brand new Comcast double sink that we brought from Virginia and wanted to put in our new kitchen because we loved our other one but............with our new counter tops we needed a below the mount. I am crushed. However, I am very fond of my new sink so it is okay. Long story short, I would love to share this with someone who is looking for a new sink or someone who may be thinking of one now that they read this. The price is a donation to the food bank. Call if you are interested. 849-2570

It is almond in color and one side is higher than the other. It is beautiful

General Discussion / Peanut Alergy at BFA
« on: August 15, 2010, 08:21:27 AM »
I know I am not the only one with an opinion about this but I just wanted to see how everyone felt. Should BFA close it's door to town events because there are a hand full of kids with a supposedly life threatening allergy? My feelings on this are very strong so I need to be educated. Please shareyour opinions.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say Thank you for supporting Art in Bllom Festival. It has really turned into a community event in which we look forward to. We raised a little over $1.300.00 for the Fire and Rescue Departments. Not as much as I had hoped but now that we have put together an AIB committee, things will only grow and get even better. Your suport has been wonderful and much appreciated. Thanks you all for coming. If you would like to take a little assignment and help with this festival, please give me a call. 849-2570. Thanks again, Shelly
