Current News & Events / Are you going to Church tomorrow?
« on: March 02, 2013, 09:34:44 PM »
Just wondering who will be in Church tomorrow?  Have you treated your neighbor with the same kindness as you would treat yourself?   Treat others the way you want to be treated!   Do unto others as you would have others do unto you! (Mathew:12)

Just wonder who will be seated in the Front row in church tomorrow?

Current News & Events / Burning wood or going with gas this year?
« on: September 14, 2010, 07:41:30 AM »
Any guesses on which willl be the better source this Winter?  Thinking I will do 1/2 and 1/2 this year.  Although Amerigas had a great deal at the Fair this year.  If you signed up and I have an application, you received 25-gallons of FREE gas/propane; First complete fill up at $1.99/gallon and they will lock in at $2.49 good til July 2011.  Has anyone seen a better offer?  Does anyone use Amerigas here in Faifax?

Current News & Events / flashing yellow light after dark
« on: July 21, 2010, 04:20:13 PM »
Lock your doors when approaching the flashing yellow light in town after dark.  There has been a group of adults hanging out there and you don't see them because they are in the shade next to the red house.  Don't know where they come from but often I see misc cars entering at night and someone approaches the car and off the car goes.  Not sure what the attraction is there after dark, does anyone know?

Thursday night around 9pm I could not believe what I was seeing.   A Logging Truck coming from River Road attempting to make a RIGHT hand turn onto the GREEN Bridge by the Damn!  After 5 or 6 attempts he did give up.   He proceeded up Goose Pond Road.  Does anyone know if an 18-Wheeler has the Clarance to cross the Green Bridge?  The next day I looked for signs but did not see any and it does have a few green steel support beams up there.  I just couldn't tell if there was enough room for that size of a truck to clear going across that bridge.

Current News & Events / Direct TV and FairPoint Discount
« on: April 20, 2010, 07:59:10 PM »
Today I was reviewing my phone bill with FairPoint.  While we were chatting, the Operator asked if I had Direct TV which I do.  She went on to say that you get a huge discount on your HSI Service.  What would have cost me $34 will now cost me $16 and every month my Direct TV bill will reflect a $6 savings!  I was so surprised ...   Am I the last to know about this deal?

Finally,  someone out there is speaking out letting us know it is Okay to pay off your mortgage and to drive an older car!  For years, I have watched other trade their barely used car for a newer and shinnier car.  I just couldn't see the purpose there nor could I justify doing that.  As for the housing market, I have seen family's move to a bigger home for a little bit more space.  Over the past several years, I have heard many folks talk about remortgaging their homes for one reason or another.  Finally, there is this article on Yahoo which talks about it being the right thing to live in the same house for 20-years and to drive the same car for a long time!  This article doesn't down grade you treating yourself to a Starbucks every now and then!  The focus in this article is housing and transportation with a small enphasis on eating out .... I enjoyed this article and thought you my want to read it while it is still available.

Current News & Events / No need for a Fairfax Police Department
« on: January 27, 2010, 08:18:05 AM »
All of the discussion about the need for a Police Department was not necessary.  The VSP took care of it in record time along with a twist that only a Hollywood would have come up with.  Thank You VSP for working this as fast as you did.

Celt9 (I think this was your id name) don't feel bad, you said what you felt and some would agree with you but will never release it into words.  I agreed with you on 80% of what you said but I don't agree that we need a Police Department.  Truly, this little Town of Fairfax doesn't have enough crime for a Town owned Police Department.

Current News & Events / FF fire works and taxes
« on: July 01, 2009, 01:01:08 AM »
In my opinion, to ask the Town of Fairfax to support Fire Works from Taxes is not an appropriate request.

For three reasons:
1) As Judi stated, there are many folks who "double-up" within one house hold.
2) Your house value WILL be different from the other guys which means one person is paying more than the other guy.
3) Can you really ask the Senior's to pay more in Taxes to support 30-minutes of fun?

This is not to say I don't enjoy the fire works.  Infact, I do enjoy them and attend but I also support the fireworks via donation containers.  I just believe that those of us who really enjoy them for our families should pay for them without asking Seniors, one home owner and an unfair amount on those who may or may not enjoy the entertainment.

I believe one suggestion would be to start donation container 6-months before July... Then those even from Fletcher, Georgia or Westford could donate as well!

But hey - that is just my two-cents!

Henry have you checked into the MOW's with the phone number I gave to you last week?  I did try to get a menu for you but they come from the Agency on Aging and there are no extra copies at the Fletcher Store.
