Fletcher residents, please join us on Tuesday, October 29th (6pm) at Fletcher Elementary School for our second community forum where you can provide your input or just listen to what others have to say about what should be done with our growing school. Should the town build an addition? Should we tuition 6th grade to another school? Should we do nothing at all? Do you have another idea? We want to hear from the community long before we bring any recommendation to the Fletcher Elementary School Board and possibly to the town for a vote.

In the end, nothing can or will be done without a community vote, but we really want your feedback now!

Here is a link to the presentation material from the August forum: http://goo.gl/rA8l3j

So please come join us on Tuesday at 6:00pm.

<SET HEAVY SARCASM ON>

With the speed limit officially changed on Fletcher Rd yesterday, Franklin County's newest speed trap was open for business this morning!

On my way into work this morning, I was unsurprised to see a member of the Franklin County Sherriff's Office had a car pulled over on Fletcher Rd.

While I don't believe any accidents/injuries will be prevented with the speed limit adjustment, Fairfax should be able to pay off its proposed $9000 website by Q1 2013.

<SET HEAVY SARCASM OFF>

This speed limit change is going to take some getting used to. Don't forget to slow down.

This seals the deal for me. I will certainly not be voting for Joe Sinagra for State Senate on Tuesday. The creep purchased a rival's name domain (normmcallister.com) and redirected it to his own website. If you are voting in the Republican Primary on Tues, I urge you NOT to vote for Joe Sinagra. We don't need someone with his ethics representing us in Montpelier!

I know I was one of the losers on Fairfax Road. My wife drove towards Essex this morning and reports smashed mailboxes all the way into Fairfax.

I hope J&L is stocked when I go get a new mailbox today.

Here in Fletcher we have been having a discussion about whether or not to adopt Australian Ballot voting for both the Town Budget and the School Budget since Town Meeting Day last March.

On Monday night, Pam Jedlicka (a resident of Fletcher) submitted a petition to the Town Clerk that once verified will require a Special Town Meeting in Fletcher to decide the matter.

Since the beginning of the conversation, I have been in favor of maintaining Fletcher's 220+ year floor vote tradition. I invite you to take a look at a website I have created in opposition to the motion www.preservefletchertownmeeting.org.

While this post is geared mostly towards the residents of Fletcher, I welcome everyone's feedback. I am especially interested in the thoughts of Fairfax residents who remember when Fairfax adopted Australian Ballot voting. The promise of Australian ballot voting is convenient voting access for all registered voters, but in my view the reality does not live up to the hype. In reviewing Fairfax Town Meeting voting statistics on the VT Secretary of State's website, it looks like Fairfax Town meeting attendance can be as low as 4% with budget voter participation around 20%. The Town of Fletcher has about 14% participation at Town Meeting and I think with a little effort that could be significantly higher.

I look forward to your thoughts and if the forum is interested, I will continue to provide updates as the process unfolds.

Thanks,
Todd Baumeister

Does anyone have suggestions for a local sand pit that will sell me sand for a new sandbox that I just built for my family? The sandbox is 8 ft x 8 ft and more than a foot deep. I am thinking I need about 2-3 yards of sand.

I would love it if it was delivered, but I do have a truck and could make multiple trips.

I am trying to avoid the $4 1/2 sq ft bags of granular gold that is for sale at Lowes and Home Depot.

Thanks,
Todd

I've noticed recently that there isn't a newscast at 10pm on WCAXtra anymore? Anyone know the reason for the change?

Announcements / 1999 Honda Civic 4dr Sedan For Sale
« on: December 23, 2009, 03:52:08 PM »
I am selling our 1999 Honda Civic. I have it posted on Craigslist at http://burlington.craigslist.org/cto/1563887384.html
The car passed inspection in November and is inspected through the end of December 2010! The car has studded Nokian tires on it right now and this car is great in the snow.

My wife and I bought this car in 1999. Overall, the car is in very good shape.

The car has a lot of miles on it (just under 207K), but it still has a lot of life left in it. I was driving it back and forth to work in Stowe everyday, but my wife opened a daycare in our home last month, so we purchased a minivan for her and I now drive her car every day.

Please checkout the link and let me know if you are interested or have any questions about the car.

Thanks,
Todd
