Bill,

The school already operates on a July 1 to June 30 fiscal calendar and has for years. The Town of Fairfax is moving from a calendar year (Jan 1 to Dec 31) to a fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).

Starting July 1, 2018, both the town and school will be on the same calendar for accounting/operating purposes.

The reason for the 18-month tax bill is to make the shift from a calendar year to a fiscal year.

One of the big advantages, is that the budget that is voted on in March will be for the year that begins on July 1 that year instead of voting in March for a budget in which 2 months of expenses have already accrued.

I would expect you would continue to receive only 1 tax bill.

Disclaimer: I am a Fletcher resident, but we went through the same change a couple of years ago.

The Zoning Administrator is Maurice Rathbun. He only works part time and I am not sure what his hours are.

Like Rod, I am not sure what the project is.

Another great option is Aaron Wolfe at Catamount Chimney Service LLC (phone: 802-849-9778 / cell:802-730-6809). He has helped me out with my chimney and stove a bunch of times.

Our neighbor Caty was the original poster and they received a couple of calls, but none that even closely resembled the cat.

We adopted the cat, now named Autumn, and she is doing great.

General Discussion / Re: anybody recomend a plumber?

Roupe's Plumbing & Heating. 849-6153.

Ed Roupe has been our plumber for years. I don't think you'll find anyone better.

I would guess Me. Rainville has checked the website and called around. I think the bottom line is that there is a ton of demand for good day care in the area and not a lot of supply.

Fletcher residents, please join us on Tuesday, October 29th (6pm) at Fletcher Elementary School for our second community forum where you can provide your input or just listen to what others have to say about what should be done with our growing school. Should the town build an addition? Should we tuition 6th grade to another school? Should we do nothing at all? Do you have another idea? We want to hear from the community long before we bring any recommendation to the Fletcher Elementary School Board and possibly to the town for a vote.

In the end, nothing can or will be done without a community vote, but we really want your feedback now!

Here is a link to the presentation material from the August forum: http://goo.gl/rA8l3j

So please come join us on Tuesday at 6:00pm.

@FletcherGram,

The community forum was first written about in the June Fletcher Town Newsletter, has been mentioned at school board meetings, posted on the school's website, was posted here, a 1-Call (automated message) reminder went out to all the school families, a posting in the Fletcher Google Group, and on both the Fletcher Town Facebook page and Fletcher Elementary School Facebook page. We should have posted signs around town too, but we didn't. We legitimately wanted and got community input and we will have at least one more community forum on the topic in October.

With that said we had about 30 people from the community attend the meeting including several people who don't have children in the school.

There are several pieces of good news here.

1. There will be another community forum in October. I don't have the date yet, but as soon as we determine it, we will do a better job of getting the word out.
2. We (the FES Building Study Committee) are in the early stages, of coming up with a recommendation for the school board to consider. If the school board decides to proceed with the committee's recommendation, or a different one, it will have to be brought before the town during a Town Meeting and put to a vote.
3. No addition can be approved without a town vote. Parents of sixth graders will not have school choice without a town vote.

Here is a link to the presentation from Monday night: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1_8uYI6EH07cE-PYvpOM4C3LGmsFBI4snIIARCHPJFZQ/edit?usp=sharing

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Todd Baumeister

I know he hasn't tested it. I believe that was what it says on the box.

Fletcher residents, please join us on Monday, August 19th at Fletcher Elementary School to meet our new interim co-principals, Bonnie Poe and Julie Steves, and then stay for the community forum to provide your input or just listen to what others have to say about what should be done with our growing school. Should the town build an addition? Should we tuition 6th grade to another school? Should we do nothing at all? Do you have another idea? We want to hear from the community long before we bring any recommendation to the Fletcher Elementary School Board and eventually to the town for a vote. In the end, nothing can or will be done without a community vote, but we really want your feedback now!

So please come join us on Monday and say hello to Bonnie and Julie between 5:00pm and 6:30pm and stay for the community forum which will begin at 6:30pm. Light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!

you can get a GoPro camera from Best Buy:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HERO3+HD+Camcorder/6571752.p;jsessionid=156386F40407A6FC239CE102DEBAA5AD.bbolsp-app02-143?id=1218757819828&skuId=6571752&st=gopro%20camera&cp=1&lp=4

You can get all sorts of mounts for your car, a helmet, whatever. They sell mounting kits there too. A buddy of mine just got a suction cup mount for his that will stay on a car going 150mph. Lot's of options for you Rod.
