Fairfax Fire Dept. hopes to make it a 'three-peat'

Fireman's Muster Games to be held Saturday at the Vt. Teddy Bear Co.

For the third year in a row The Vermont Teddy Bear Company and fire departments from across Vermont - including the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department - are teaming up for the annual Friend for Life Festival-Fireman's Muster.

The festival, organized to raise awareness and funds for Vermont Teddy Bear's Friend for Life Program, will be held on Saturday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory in Shelburne.

The family-oriented festival will feature over a dozen fire departments competing in traditional Fireman's Muster Games, a "Sink the Celebrities" Dunking Tank, live music with the Nobby Reed Project, games for kids and lots of other activities, food, and fun.

Vermont fire fighters are strong supporters of the Friend for Life Program.

Thirteen fire departments participated in the second annual Friend for Life Festival-Fireman's Muster in 2004, raising more than $6,900.

The main event at the Friend for Life Festival is the Fireman's Muster Games. Teams of fire fighters compete in traditional games, including Water Polo, Midnight Fire Alarm, Wet Hose, and Bucket Brigade, in the hopes of winning the coveted Friend for Life Fireman's Muster trophy.

For the past two years, Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department has won first place, with Middlebury and Vergennes Fire Departments taking second and third places, respectively.
