Hi all,

This is the last write-up Channel 3 has:

Police: Sheldon Shooting Suspicious

Sheldon, Vermont - July 7, 2005

"State police responded to a complaint of a person downed, injured believed to be dead around 12:50 PM," explained Vt. State Police Capt. Tim Bombardier.

Police worked well into the night Thursday looking for clues to a fatal shooting at the Diamond Hill Farm on the East Sheldon Road in Sheldon.

Late Thursday night, police identified the victim as Kenneth Jerome, 33. He was a farm hand doing his job when he was shot and killed.

"Nobody can tell you what type of incident this is. That's what we're trying to ascertain through our investigation and interviews. I wouldn't speculate on where, what,or how the shot occurred that injured this individual," said Bombardier.

Canine units searched the farm. Later, police used metal detectors to search the woods behind the property.

"Everyone was here assisting with documentation trying to locate potential evidence."

For now, police are calling this a suspicious death. They have not made any arrests or even said a crime has occurred.

"I'm not going to make any comments about a suspect or suspects or what people are doing for interviews."

Police would not comment on any motive for the shooting. But neighbors told Channel 3 it may have been the result of a long standing feud between two families.

Authorities will be back on the scene Friday to do more interviews and continue their investigation. They say an autopsy will also be conducted on the victim Friday.
