Title: Fall Book Discussion: Retellings
Post by: LibraryPrograms on August 26, 2013, 06:26:59 AM
We'll be doing the Vermont Humanities Council's Retellings this fall. Cheryl Heneveld and Helene Lang will be our discussion leaders.

Retellings ~ These novels all re-imagine classics works of fiction, retelling them from a different character’s perspective.

Thursday, September 19th: John Gardner's Grendel (Origin: Beowulf) with Helene Lang

Thursday, October 10th: Geraldine Brooks's March (Origin: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott) with Cheryl Heneveld

Thursday, November 14th: Sena Jeter Naslund's Ahab’s Wife, or the Star-gazer (Origin: Moby Dick by Herman Melville) with Cheryl Heneveld

Thursday, January 9th: John Clinch's Finn (Origin: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain) with Helene Lang

For all of the books, I will have a few copies of the originals available on the book display, if you would like to read them alongside the retellings.
The books are in now, so pick up your copy today!
