Trooper Angela Baker, assigned to the Williston Barracks, was presented with the "Saved by the Belt" award this afternoon by Lt. John Flannigan, Traffic Safety Commander.

Trooper Baker was investigating a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 89 near Richmond on January 3, 2010, when her cruiser was struck from behind by a truck.  Her cruiser sustained substantial damage. Because she was wearing her seatbelt, she was not injured.

Each year over 50% of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty are killed as a result of motor vehicle crashes or incidents.

Congratulations, Angela....WELL DESERVED !!    The pictures are still pretty scary and a strong reminder of several possibilities when involved in an accident. It was a good thing when you posted them on this forum.   Stay safe.
