Title: Missing Man From Westford

Vermont State police would like your help in locating and checking the welfare of Lee Messimer, age 61. Mr. Messimer was last seen on 12/10/13 around 1030 am near the Fairfield Vt. Town offices.

Mr. Messimer is from the Westford area and is known to walk in the area of Westford, Fairfax and St. Albans on a daily basis and does not have a vehicle. In the past Mr. Messimer has stayed with unknown acquaintances in the Fairfax and St. Albans.

Mr. Messimer is a white male, age 61, approximately 5'7" and around 175 pounds with a gray beard. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, gray sweatpants, black boots and a black winter hat. He may have had on a red t-shirt.

Vermont State Police Williston is asking for assistance from the public in locating Mr. Messimer to confirm his wellbeing. Anyone who may have seen Mr. Messimer since yesterday is asked to contact the State Police at (802) 878-7111.

Post by: Rev. Elizabeth on December 11, 2013, 07:49:57 PM: Oh dear me, this is so sad. I saw him on Friday by 104A and Saturday by the Brick Meeting house in Westford. I kept thinking I should have stopped and asked him if he needed anything....I hope he is all right!

Saw him 2 days ago on 128, I see him quite frequently though.

We are still trying to locate Lee Messimer to check his welfare and ensure he is okay. This is very typical behavior for Lee as he is always out walking and often walks many, many miles but usually returns home to his residence on Osgood Hill Road in Westford. Lee has not been home in four days and does not carry any money or food on him. He is also not dressed adequately to be walking for an extended length of time in the snow or the cold weather. We have been advised that he has a sister that lives in St. Albans and friends that live in Fairfield. Lee suffers from short term memory loss and often does not recognize his surroundings or the people around him. If you see him walking PLEASE contact the State Police at 878-7111 and let us know so we can get him home safely!

Please let us know if he is found. With this cold weather I do hope someone has taken him in along his travels.

Welfare Check for Lee Messimer Continues in Westford, VT

Westford, VT - 12/13/13 - The Vermont State Police continue their search for Lee Messimer, age 61of Westford, to check his welfare. A family member called the state police on December 10 to request a welfare check on Lee. Since that time, the state police have received several reports from individuals who have seen Mr. Messimer. He was last seen yesterday, December 12, in the St. Albans area.

The Vermont State Police would like to make contact with Mr. Messimer to check his welfare. With the cold temperatures and forecasted winter storm, the Vermont State Police would like to ensure he is safe. Anyone that may see or come into contact with Lee, please call the Vermont State Police at (802) 878-7111. Or submit an anonymous tip by texting "CRIMES" (274637) with keyword: VTIPS or online at http://vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.

Lee Messimer Located in Fairfield, VT

Westford, VT - 12/20/13 - Today, the Vermont State Police located Lee Messimer, age 61 of Westford, in a building off of Vermont Route 36 in the town of Fairfield, VT.

Mr. Messimer was transported, as a precaution, to the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans to be evaluated health care providers. Mr. Messimer's family has been notified of his whereabouts, and should be reunited soon.

The Vermont State Police were contacted on December 10, by a family member, to request a welfare check on Mr. Messimer. During that time, there were several reports from individuals who saw Mr. Messimer. Uniform troopers and detectives appreciate the assistance from the public and media in locating him.

Let's hope he can be kept safe this winter; I realize how hard it is to care for those who have the memory loss as I have experienced within my own family & in those close to me but there needs to be a way to keep him safer yet still with dignity & freedom.
