Title: Maine Coon Cat?
Post by: trussell on June 06, 2014, 12:01:14 PM
Does anyone at the northern end of rte 104 have a Maine coon cat- or another breed of 20+ lb tiger cat) that may have been out yesterday?  Around 10:00 last night we were startled when one was standing on the deck railing and peering in our living room window.  It didn't appear to be aggressive and just walked away when I opened the door to investigate.  I didn't have a problem with it, I'm just curious since I rarely seen wildlife in my yard.

(No, it wasn't a fisher cat)

Maine Coon Cats usually have pretty long hair.

Ohh.. It didn't have long hair- looked suspiciously like the second one.  Wow, that's really interesting!

Ed- Thanks for the vote of confidence :)

This winter i took pictures of pawprints in the snow next to my cats prints. A wildlife naturalist tpld me they could have been a bobcat. I unfortunately did not have anything for scale in the picture so that he could be more certain. But they were so much bigger than my cats prints. I also have seen some other possible bobcat sightings in town this year in the forum.

T-Man, it could have been either or.

I do know it wasn't a dingo.

The lynx(s) on the above page look smaller than the ones I have seen up here.
They roam up on the hillside here.

When I see pictures of Maine, NH, VT, moose they look nothing like ours up here.
