Title: Looks Like A Wild Weather Day Ahead For Today
Post by: Henry on September 18, 2012, 07:49:00 AM
We have a wild weather day ahead of us.  The day will start out quietly, but change in a hurry.  A strong cold front will be sweeping in from the west, combining with a load of moisture coming out of the Gulf of Mexico.

Rain will overspread the region from SW to NE as we go through the morning hours.  As we go through the day, the rain will get heavier.  Strong thunderstorms are also possible, especially the farther south you are.  1-2" of rain can be expected by Wednesday morning with some locally higher amounts.

The other part of this storm system is the wind.  Winds will pick up out of the SSE at 20-35 mph as we get into the afternoon.  Wind gusts could be as high as 50-60 mph, which could bring down trees, limbs, and power lines.

A *WIND ADVISORY* is in effect for the entire area from Noon until Midnight.  A *HIGH WIND WARNING* is in effect for Bennington & Windham Counties, where gusts could go as high as 60 mph.
