Edward “Sonny” Carpenter

Jeffersonville/Spring Hill, FL - Edward “Sonny” Carpenter, 77 passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family when he went to be with the Lord on Thursday October 6, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born on April 26, 1934 in Cambridge son of the late Errol and Bernice (Machia) Carpenter.  He retired from IBM after 27 years of dedicated employment.  Upon his retirement from IBM he went to work for the Town of Cambridge as a property tax appraiser.  Ed loved the outdoors, from gardening to hunting and all sports in between always looking forward to golfing with his friends in FL.  Most of all Ed loved and cherished his family.

He leaves his loving wife of 55 years Carol (McNally) Carpenter of Spring Hill, FL, his son Michael Carpenter and wife Donna and their children Lindsey, Alexander, and Emily, his daughter Robin Travers and husband Robert and their children Anna and Andrew all from CT, a brother Richard Carpenter and wife Hazel of Jeffersonville, his brother-in-law Reginald Gordon of OR, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also predeceased by an infant daughter, Kathy Jean and his Sister Barbara Gordon.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday October 21, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home – Fairfax Chapel.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cambridge with Reverend Charles R. Danielson officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the family lot in Jeffersonville Village Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to HPH Hospice Foundation, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667.  Arrangements are by A.
