Title: cage for chinchilla
Post by: FletcherGram on September 08, 2010, 03:43:51 PM
Hey All, I'm adopting a baby chinchilla. His FORMER house parents left daddy in the cage with his mommy. Well, evidently, daddy tried to kill poor MoJo. Mojo now has a tad shorter tail and a severed rear leg. Currently, a friend that rescues animals is caring for MoJo. He's been given antibiotics and is being fed by a dropper. He's 2 wks old. SO anyway, I need a cage and all that goes with it. If anyone knows where I may be able to purchase at a reasonable price or if someone has this equipment to sell at a reasonable price, please let me know.
Thanks

Try the guy across the street from Steeple Market - He usually has a lot of different cages there.

Is that typical of the relationship?

slpoot- do you mean the 'male' thing or relationships in general?  LOL.  It is typical of the rodent-type family. Daddy rabbits will do the same if left in the cage with mom and the babies.

Also, try looking on craigslist under the free or pet sections. They normally are a good resource when looking for things at resonable prices.

I had gerbils as a kid, and both the male and female adult would eat the babies sometimes.

I was only familiar with the Queen Bee's. Very interesting. I had no idea about rodent behaviors. It was an honest innocent question. Maybe even a dumb question but......one never knows if they do not ask. Ya gotta love this site.

It's called Wild Kingdom's Post-Parnum Depression (even the fathers get "Sympathy" Post-Parnum Depression -- lol).

So much for that "nature made them cute" theory. Even though it's morally wrong and truly reprehensible this does explain a little about child abuse...we are not so far removed from our animal  brothers/sisters.

FletcherGram,

In case you still need a Chinchilla cage .... go to Craigslist ~ there is a free Guinea Pig Cage listed on 09/12/10 located in Barre Town.

Good Luck
