ADDITIONAL ARCHITECTURAL OR STRUCTURAL DESCRIPTION:

 Typical small vernacular 19th c. dwelling.  1 1/2 - story, 3 x 2 bay house with a 4 x 1 ell that has an enclosed shed portch on the south side.  Stone foundation covered w/particle board.  Interior chimney on south end of ell.  Left gable end entrance has 3/4 length sidelights above panels.  Simpld door surround (opening covered) has a plain cornice board.  Windows are 2/2 plain surrounds.  An added shed garage in rear has novelty siding.

The said Menard off the piazza is to clapboard the house, put in the windows and case them on the inside, put in the front door and finish it. The said Bell to furnish all the material. There is a mortgage on said place of $150.00, $50.00 to B. C. Alfred, $50.00 to L. B. Hunt and $50.00 to E. J. Pease which the said Bell is to pay.

Hicks....three promissory notes in writing all dated February 9, 1874 given for $50.00 each executed and signed by said Menard and payable to said Hicks or bearor with interest annually. One note payable on or before two years from date, one note payable on or before two years and six months from date, and one note payable on or before three years from date, and shall also on or before the 10th day of May next to erect or cause to be erected a dwelling house on the above described lands and premises, and cause said dwelling house to be well insured and kept insured for the benefit of said Hicks.....
