ARCHITECTURAL OR STRUCTURAL DESCRIPTION:
2 1/2-story, 3 x 3 bay, post-and-beam vernacular Greek Revival structure in
weatherboards w/cornerboards. The main entrance is located on the left gable
end, facing Main St. 2/3 sidelights flank the door which exits onto a gable
entrance porch (c.1930) w/rail. There is also a shed porch on the south facade.
Windows are 2/2, except on the east gable end, where there are two 6/6 windows
on the second story. A massive stone chimney has been added to the exterior
west end of the wing. Located immediately west of the dwelling, there is a
c.1850, 1 1/2 story, 18 x 30', horse barn that has been converted into a
garage. Clapboards, gable roof. Owned by H. Stearns in 1871. It was the
Harriette McGue Estate in 1980 and currently up for sale at that time.
